Wow, it's great to see these all in the same post - some excellent shots gang! Here's a few from my layout, not new ones, some old fave's that I posted awhile ago.... Santa Fe 991 exiting tunnel 7 SP8173 West on the 4th crossing of Tehachapi Creek Eastbound SP lumber drag crossing the Tuolomne River in Modesto
Nice pictures Dave! You really did Tehachapi justice with your modeling. I made the pilgrimage to Tehachapi last summer with my grandpa and uncle to get some great video of freight trains running through the loop, and now I can scratch that off my bucket list!:tb-biggrin:
Dave, Nice pictures and nice weathering- right down to trailers on that TOFC train! Excellent, really enhances the shots, my best, Jan
No it's Iowa. :tb-tongue: Here's my giveaways, I looked straight at the baggage car and knew fake. Dunno why, it wasn't the steamer, but the coaches gave it to me. The camera angle is a pinch too high. If it were set down a bit lower, to appear more in the picture, or done with a few fuzzy branches to look like it was taken in a tree, then it would fit scene more, but as it is, it looks hovering and makes the train look smaller than it should be. the Perception WANTS to be a photographer on a hill, but it's too tall for that. The trees by the center bridgepier, there's just no easy way to do good model trees NO, HO, Even G but some do work there. leaves are just too thin for a proper scaling. Also, the grass looks like a golf course. (and well manicured, at that) Still good grass though. And the steamer is in superb lighting, the water is excellent, the shadows are nice, and the overall is still A++ Wish I could do that. My question, this is in real lighting, vcorrect?
Great photos by all. Here's one that I took a long time ago of my old layout. Still one of my favorites as I built, painted, and or decaled everything in the photo. Brian
Thanks. Well the sky and horizon are real. As well as the tree behind the bridge. Some of the water is real and some is photo shopped to extend it forward some. Just natural sunlight with little or no correction.
For the purposes of my post, as compared the preceding, we'll call it "ok shots...." From my original layout and the first car I ever painted.... I like the fact I could see the passengers... Baking soda is messy.............. Father and sons.....and trains
Not a best photo, but its what there is, etc. ... Empire Builders crossing at overpass in Eastern Wash semi-arid foothills ... (of course, it doesn't happen ...) Well, its my first try at scenery ... baffled:
Catwhiskers at Mormon Rocks Santa Fe Catwhisker FT's, with a westbound reefer MTY block on its way to San Bernardino, Cal., about to cross Highway 138 in the heart of Cajon Pass; March 1948. Taken on my "Cajon Pass circa 1950" layout. Mormon Rocks in the background.
Russ, Sullivans' curve is on the newer uphill line; this is on the original 3% downhill track just below Mormon Rocks...same kind of rocks though... Regards, Otto
These are photos of some of my BNSF equipment taking a detour over Keith Schabers UP La Grand sub layout:tb-biggrin:
