I know what you mean. The double-slip looks very nice and scale-sized, too. I can even see a headlight reflection on the rail.
Whoa, you guys--some incredible photos here, this weekend. I haven't been doing much photography--or much else on the Yuba River sub, lately, with my teaching schedule at school, but here's one I don't think I've posted--one of my 3-cylinder 1600 4-8-2's rounding the curve at the Champion Mine in South Yuba Canyon with a long expidited freight headed up the 2% grade toward Wagon Wheel Gap. The 2-8-8-2 heading downgrade on the westbound level is returning to Deer Creek after a helper assignment on Yuba Pass, it's a Proto2 USRA. The 4-8-2 is an older Keybrass import, and runs like a swiss watch, LOL! And coming up on the rear of the freight are two of the Rio Grande 1200 2-8-2 pushers. They'll be on the train clear up to Yuba Pass, then cut off and drift back down the westbound main. Tom
Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate any feedback coming my way. Fireball, the steamer is a Broadway Limited Imports (BLI) original Paragon Series engine with a plastic shell. I think they hit a home run with this engine, as they did with the Y6b in my other image above, although they marketed the Y under their PCM brand. AFAIK, BLI intends to produce a Paragon 2 version of the J1 in the next year or so. It is a great puller!
"Great", "Awesome", "Incredible", don't even come close to describing this week's photos. We need a new word. A big thumbs up  to all of you.
Some really fantastic photos here. And some mighty awesome modelers here on Trainboard:thumbs_up::thumbs_up:
Woodchip Gondolas Old Republic Locomotive Works kit. All metal. Factory weathering My weathering Custom woodchip loads made with sand and painted woodchip brown.
Working on a project for the father of a gentleman in our N-trak club.... Still need to finish drawing the decals and print them out. Also need to paint the trucks/sideframes. I've already rebuilt the mechanism with NWSL gear sets and removed about a pound of lead. The previous owner crammed lead into every nook and cranny, including some places it should not have been that kept the loco from running.
Flash, I like your woodchip cars and loads. I really like the RLW car. I need a few of that style but have never ordered any. Your's came out very nice. How was the kit to build?
Sorry, it's HO. It's a KMT Brass Milwaukee road Bi-polar. Hope to have the decals finished tonight. Anybody know of a source for the early Milwaukee Road font?
So many great photos this week, as there is every week! Insperation for me to get off my duff and get to work.
Hi, all, A N scale public service announcement . The November 2010 Railroad Model Craftsman: On pages 42-47, features the N scale layout of Kent Williams' Oregon Washington Navigation & Railway, a freelanced N scale layout patterned after a branch of the Union Pacific with the emphasis on prototypical operations, and is set in the USA Pacific Northwest. If you like that article, there is a nice additional set of behind-the-scenes photos of this excellent N scale layout that anyone can see on the X2011 West Facebook page: X2011 West Facebook webpage Here's a couple samples: Hope you enjoy these additional shots of this excellent N scale layout that will be open for tours and operations during the X2011 West NMRA National Convention, July 3-9, 2011 in the Sacramento, California area. More about Kent's layout is at his web site: OWNRy Model Railroad - Home Kent is a major OPSIG participant in the western US, models in Northwest USA in N scale, and is a great guy and generous layout owner. One of the great things about this hobby is the super people we get to meet. Thx, Kent for letting us visit, and thx, RMC for publishing about N scale.
