G'day to all in Trainboard, My name is Jeff Gale from NSW on the east coast of Australia, I have only just restarted my N Gauge layout after a very long break away from it, life, family, work Ahhhhhhhhhhh. If anyone is interested to have a look at my layout, you can at http://willowcreekrr.site40.net/index.html , I'm modeling Australia in 1928. My full time job is Web developing and Tutoring computer to seniors, if I can be of help to anyone give me a line.
G'day Steve, Sorry I called mine a layout after having a look at your great layout, blown away mate. Oh I'm in Wollongong. Good to meet you. Jeff.
Geez, another Mexican.:tb-biggrin: (For the uninitiated what us Queenslanders affectionately call someone from south of the border.) Welcome to Trainboard, we'll get these yanks saying points instead of switch yet.:tb-wink:
What we have heare...is a failuure...to comuneecate! They aint "Points"...:tb-tongue: They aint "Switches"...:tb-frown: They is however called "Turnouts"...:tb-cool: LOL .
I dont understand how you guys from down under dont keep from falling of the bottom of the earth and floating away in space. Oh well. WELCOME ABOARD!!
Hey Jeff, Great to see another east coaster on the 'TB'. Just moved to Singleton in the Hunter. I liked your web site with some great links in there.Look forward to seeing progress shots.
It's so nice to meet so many friendly train[ers] here. Thanks all and yes Westfalen maybe we can point those yanks to the truth and switch their ideas. Jeff.
You will have to forgive Westfallen, he is a Banana Bender (Queenslander) and likes to try and make a "Point", I on the other hand am an ex Cockroach (New South Wales) and am willing to "Switch" and call them "Turnouts". Welcome aboard Jeff, I am into Southern Pacific in N Scale, ex NSW engineman (way back in the 60's - 1960's, NOT 1860's thank you very much), I do now of course reside in Sunny Queensland and have a reasonable close association with Westfallen, not a bad sort of a bloke (bit of Okerism there). Ted (Teditor) Freeman
G'day Ted, Good to meet you, Thanks for the nod about Westfallen, We south of the border have to keep our eyes on those from Queensland. My youngest son defected north of the border to Townsville a few years ago. Jeff.
Man I don't know if I can handle this. First, welcome to the forum, and we are all happy to have you here, and look forward to your postings. That being said, it seemed like my beloved Australia and I have a destiny. Even though I am an old fart, it seems like very interest I ever had, has a strong Australian contingent, and N scale sounds like it is really getting a strong foothold down there, and almost beckoning me to get back to work, and earn some money for a trip there. When I was a youth, my interests along with electric trains were surfing, tennis, and hobie cat sailing, all of which Australians are among the leaders in each. Then I read that Aussies follow the leaders in these sports like football fanatics here, and I am sold. I feel like I have a little Aussie in my own heart. I love America with all of my heart, but a chunk of it wants to travel downunder, have a beer at a pub in Bells Beach, serve a tennis ball at Laver stadium, rent a Hobie 16 at Manly Beach, and have some running sessions with the Australian guys on this forum. G'day mates!!!!! Great to have ya Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
Ken you almost sound Aussie, you are welcome down here anytime. When Flash Blackman was flying for United he would come and visit on his layover, it was great having him here operating the layout.
Oh, great, not only a banana-bender but a FNQ banana-bender! Could be worse, though - he could be an honourary Sandgroper or Crow Eater!
Townsville's actually further from Brisbane than Wollongong. Odd, the spellchecker accepts Wollongong but not Townsville, must be some sort of southern conspiracy.:tb-wink:
but we give it to you gringos as good as we get :tb-tongue: greetings from meh-i-co where it's warm one day, freezing cold and raining the next (for our American friends no I'm not kidding)
G'day Jeff,,,I'm new to TrainBoard and I saw you are from NSW...I'm in Tassie.. Love this way of communicating.. Notice you do N Scale.. That's what drew me into modelling in the first place a few years ago. Bit limited equipment wise I found so I switched to HO in 2010.. Layout only small but DCC 3.5 metres x 1.5 metres... Doing predominantly BNSF.. Prototypical Aussie stuff so expensive , Tassie locos near impossible too.. American rail has huge scope . Buy stuff online from Queensland two outlets and a bit from Victoria occasionally.... Will click your link on the Willow Creek layout.. Give me a hoy back sometime if you'd like. Cheers tigers1960 (Rod)
G'day. Westfalan...New to Train Board, Browsing the topics and have discovered quite a few fellow aussies... With all our State banter was wondering about us Taswegians. Guarantee we're easier to get along with than the Vics..but even then there's a few goodies amongst 'em. Notice your monniker Santa Fe.. My favourite of all the American companies and BNSF of course.. doing HO mostly ATSF/BNSF..... Cheers tigers1960 (Rod)
