This is quite the neat looking format, and beyond the aesthetic improvement, I am quite sure the icons and coloration all have significant functions. It will be fun exploring these. BTW, I never thoought the old format needed improvement because of all of the forums I have participated in, this is the most user friendly.
I kinda dig it. It's simplistic and easy to use. I like my OLD TrainBoard, but I think that a merger of the two will be absolutely perfect and I will patiently wait for the integration.
Don't get too use to it. The "New Look" is kind of temporary until Charlie can change the "out of the box" Vbulletin look to something more familiar.
Ok..laugh now...get it over with. :tb-tongue: I am using IE 6.0 and using a Maxthon browser. NOoooooooo...I aint a techie...and NOoooooooo..I aint upgrading anything !! I hate Windows 7....IE8 is a PITA on the rare occasion when I use THE Wifes laptop !! I dont do Facebook or Twitter either! My kids hate that I wont 'text' them back...but I call them back instead. (texting is the equivalent of passing notes in class...lol) :tb-hissyfit: I know I am gonna get the proverbial " Don't let technology pass you by." and " Not our fault you wont upgrade." etc etc. I am hoping after the "out of the box" is upgraded....it will work like it did before on my system...thnxs :tb-nerd: .
:tb-biggrin: Like anything NEW...I am willing to give it a shot. Once Charlie gets all the "Bling" figured out and added...I am sure its gonna be fine. Only problem I am having is a browser issue. But I am hoping that will be fixed to. BTW...So far I am liking the new look  .
Cranky New Englander Alert. Guys, in case you don't know, I've been here a while, within a few months when Trainboard first came on line way back in double knot. I have been through a few upgrades in my time. This upgrade is no different than highway construction. It's all single lane right now, but traffic is moving. People complain about little features and looks but like construction, those features are being worked on as we speak. No one likes the single lane, 45MPH posted speed limit, orange cones and so forth but when the highway is done, it is functional and as pretty as a highway can be. Rest easy, Charlie and many others are hard at work to make this look and work better than what we had before. Please be patient, all of us have real jobs, wives, girlfriends, kids and other real world commitments. Thank you for your patience.
Where has the link to Rail Images gone????? What is to become of that site??? Is it to be Nix'd??? How do I access it now?? I've combed the "New" but can't seem to access it anywhere!!!! Someone Please Help!!!! Hobo Tim
Tim, Give us a chance to get things going. RailImages is here: http://www.trainboard.com/railimages Charlie
We did have "24 hours of TB" as a search and that is the place to find all the new items regardless of where they are posted. Maybe we should have a "48 hours of TB" or a "72 hours of TB" for those that don't get here so often. There are a lot of things that don't work right now as the new TB sorts things out.
I have the Tapatalk app on my iPod Touch, and I sincerely hope Trainboard can be found on that soon. I currently use it for two photography sites, Photo Camel and APUG (Analog Photography Users Group), and I find it easy to use an navigate. As for an auto redirect to a mobile-friendly version of a site, this is, IMO, an acceptable (to me) alternative to Tapatalk. I was delighted to discover another site, Staging Tracks (http://www.stagingtracks.com), does this automatically, giving the user a site optimized for iPhone and iPod Touch. However, I can't say I'm all that excited about the new look. While I suppose it'll eventually grow on me, signing on today and having the new look inflicted on me was not something I wanted - especially since I didn't have any coffee. (When it comes to change, in a 2010 blog post about the changing of the guard of my LHS, I wrote, "Change, by its very nature, can be unsettling.") Dieter Zakas "Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine."
I like the new format at first glance, but I'll reserve further comment until I get used to it, just like moving into a new house. However, there appears to be a bug with the Edit function. I replied to the latest thread in Fallen Flags, New York Central. I then wished to edit that post with an added comment. However, the edited text was not Saved in the original post, but was posted as a new Reply. This may have been caused by my having a problem with the interaction of the new TB functions with Windows and IE9, or by a bug in the new TB format...dunno?
That's a fair enough criticism. Thank you for posting it. However, nothing in this regard has changed with the upgrade. The sub-categories are just the same as they were. We're glad to listen to your comment. I just don't want it to get mixed up with stuff about the upgrade as it is unrelated. Charlie
Excellent. Please see this thread: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?133615-UPGRADE-Attention-Mobile-Device-Users We'll look forward to your donation to help us reach that goal. Charlie
