Maybe I missed it or its disguised as something else but when in the groups I cannot find the "attachment" paper clip. Before someone tells me to use a host I choose to use attachments for quick responses to pictures that support my comments. It is available when I "go advanced" in responses to threads, but cannot find it in the "groups" pages. Oh, and spell check does not work.
You cannot upload attachments directly in the groups like you can in the forums. A workaround to this is to upload an image into an album or on RailImages and use the link to the photo in the group post. The spell checker uses a plugin that you have to download. It should prompt you to do that if you try to use it. Charlie
That's to bad about attachments in the groups, but I'll just have to work around it. When I use the spell check here it does not prompt me to download. I use the spell check on my browser as my work around. Will there be an option to have attachments somehow connected to a user profile?
I don't think it was ever possible to view another members attachments in bulk, but in to view your own attachments in bulk, go up to "settings" on the very top right, or find it as "General Settings" in the "Forum Actions" sub-menu. That's the User Control Panel, and on the bottom left, under "Miscellaneous", is "Attachments". Click that and it will list all of your attachments.
I use the Firefox browser (mostly) and I use the spell checking that is built into that. I don't believe that it has ever been possible to upload attachments into group posts. Charlie
You've already heard from me, so this is kinda redundant, but while I am runnign widescreen, I'm not always running fullscreen. Case in point, when I was building the consist list for the James Whitcomb Riley, Trainboard was on one side of my screen with the NYC subforum, and the other side was Passenger Car Phot Index, or the Walthers catalog. Or I might have my music player on one side, or Facebook when I'm uploading pictures (copy-pasting phot properties link), etc. Hooray for the lookout for the new photo. I missed that wen it went away on Vb3. I do like the new logo, but could we possibly move the advertisement away so it doesn't crowd out the logo? Or flip-flop them so TB is front and center? Hmm. Possibly doing the same setup, on the old logo but "backlighting" the vinette pics could be cool. Auto-save feature=Awesomeness
Yes it does work. It is browser dependent. If you're using M$ IE...well...you probably know what the problem is! LOL
I don't think viewing others attachments was ever possible in the past, but was hoping it could become a reality here. Also, thanks for the explanation to view my attachments. It just happens that I have not utilized "groups" much in the past and am just now becoming active. Agreed. Kudos!!! The icon in the editor does not work for me, but I can just go into the browser bar and utilize it.
Problem - Reply With Quote This is a Problem Report, Reply With Quote - Reference - http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine...-Saucier-Central&p=800455&posted=1#post800455 Page 6, Post #53 Problem - I had wished to Reply to Jerry DeBenne's Post #52, quoting it for reference. I selected "Reply With Quote" assuming that Jerry's post would be shown as a quote as it would have been with the previous TB system. However, when the Reply entry screen appeared, not only was the quote not displayed, but the typing cursor was not displayed either. I then selected "Go Advanced" knowing that the Advanced screen would provide the typing cursor, also hoping that Jerry's post would be displayed as a quote. The cursor appeared with the Advanced screen as expected, but the quote of Jerry's post did not. Consequently, Post #53 contains only my reply to Jerry's post, but not the quote to which I was referring. This problem report is the first for "Reply With Quote", but the second I have posted referring to the missing typing cursor.
Charlie, I followed what I believe to be proper procedure, but received the same resilts. I have pasted my Post #54 of the N-Scale Saucier Central thread below. I'll be happy to help with further tests if you wish. "This is a test at Charlie's request. I am attempting to quote my previous post. The test failed as seen. "I made an additional observation not reported earlier. When I rested the mouse cursor on the "right-quotation marks +", there was a drop down display of "multi-quote this message". However, when I rested the cursor on both the "left-quotation marks" and on "Reply With Quote", there was no drop-down display, although the left quotation marks disappeared indicating that the cursor position was being recognized."
OK, apparently both the quote and the non-advanced cursor issues are caused within my system, though I have no idea where. I'm running Win7 Home Edition SP1, and IE9.0.1. Do you have any idea where within Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, I might start looking? Thanks EDIT - Below are the Properties of "Reply With Quote" and "Multi-Quote. The right-click drop dwon menus are different between the two, but I have no experience with HTML, so need help interpreting the code. Do you have an alternative browser installed to test out? (I recommend Firefox) Is your IE and necessary features (java, flash, ect.) all up to date?
Sorry Charlie, No Joy with Quote. EDIT - I forgot to say that this was in reply to your 8:02 CDT request, noy your late posts.
Mark, to the best of my knowledge, they all are up to date, though I will verify in the next few minutes.
