OK, I'll bite. I'm not positively sure exactly which classes had that scheme, but I do have one of the Morning Sun Lloyd Stagner books, and he has photos of the following classes in zebra stripe... EMD GP7 Alco RSD5 FM H-16-44 GE 44-ton FM H-12-44 Baldwin VO-1000 Baldwin DT-6-6-2000 Alco RSD-15 Santa Fe's Diesel Fleet (McMillan) adds the following, at least by mention if not full photos: Davenport & Whitcomb 44-tonners Alco RSD7 Alco S-1 Alco S-2 Assume so but can't prove it - others will have to jump in... Alco RS-1 (one unit) EMD SW-9 Alco S-4
Randy, Does this prove anything? http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl14.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl52.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl63.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl65.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl69.jpg http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfhindex.html
GP 7's with and without dynamic braking. GP 7's with Torpedo Tubes or air tanks on top. Used for commuter passenger traffic. Some GP7u rebuilds, with the Santa Fe box logo on the short nose. GP 9's with dynamic braking? Some have touted that Santa Fe never owned any GP9's. Santa Fe never did own any SD7 or SD9's. And the last ones to wear the Zebra, the SD-24's with the small print "Santa Fe". The last order to arrive on the AT&SF property wore the first of the large print "Santa Fe". This large print stayed with the Santa Fe units... until it's demise or merger into BNSF. Jack Whitmeyers, collection of AT&SF locomotives is my favorite resource as well as Dr. Cynthia Priest's Documentation. Here is one Center Cab, Baldwin that many said didn't exist: http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl71.jpg One more for Randqust a FM: http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/sfl87.jpg That should wrap it up.
Glad you posted those. Some of those units like the HH-series Alcos and possibly the NW2 were delivered in 'basic black'. Figured they had to be painted in stripes at some point but couldn't prove it.
thanks guys i just bought the GP 9 from bachmen (i know its less qualty but i dont have DCC so i dont need bells and horns) for $89 let me know if you can buy the HE 16 some where
Atlas did the H-16-44 in Zebra Stripe in...hmmm...2002... (HO and N) http://www.atlasrr.com/Images/NLocomotives/nh15441644/52015.jpg Part number is 52015 and 52016 if you are searching e-tailers or Ebay. The really hard one to find is the Life-Like SW-7 or whatever in zebrastripe, they haven't been made for years and are really pursued.
