I'm pleased to announce that Jim Wiggin has coordinated with Railfan & Railroad Magazine and the Galesburg Railroad Days to bring TrainBoard a special 4 part photo challenge to take place over the next 4 weeks! These challenges will operate as usual except that the first place winner will receive a copy of Great Railroad Photography Premiere Issue from Carstens! Galesburg RR Days starts on Thursday June 23rd and runs til Sunday June 26th in Galseburg Illinois. We hope that anyone in the area will stop by and have a fun day at the event! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is the final week of our 4 part special, and the new theme is BNSF! This is for new photos of anything BNSF related. Entry deadline is Sunday June 26th. One entry per member. Eligible entries will be new photos, or photos making their online debut! (For example, a photo taken a few months ago, but never posted online before). On June 27th, all entries will be voted on by TrainBoard members to determine the recipient of Great Railroad Photography's Premiere Issue. If you have any questions feel free to post and we'll get an answer as soon as possible.
Thanks Mark. Ok everyone last week and last chance to get a chance to win this book. Relatively easy one, so load up your camera and get trackside!
This was just ten days ago. A BNSF Z-CHCPTL at Bison, Montana, making a run up the east slope of Marias Pass: And a short while later, after crawling through all kinds of slow orders for snowmelt troubles, winding down the mountain into Essex, Montana. Boxcab E50

24 June 2009 at Shelby, MT I took for granted being so close to so much BNSF action... Now that I don't have it, I had to dig into the archives. Here's a neat view from atop a high knob east of Shelby, MT. It overlooks a shuttle loader for grain trains, the wye to Great Falls, the Amtrak depot, the BNSF yard west of town, and Shelby proper. Here's an "Earthworm" awaiting its turn through the loader:
RR Days Only one entry? RATS!!!!! Ok here is one from RR Days last year... Trimmer locomotives awaiting their next assignment.
Neal, I decided to open it up to all BNSF but Galesburg RR Days pictures are welcome, this is the reason why we did the contest originally.
Just a few more days to get a BNSF photo entered for the prize. Neal- Just FYI, I moved the non-entries to the Cutting room floor thread so that this thread only displays the entries.
Does it have to be a recent picture? I have a pitcure of a BNSF business train going over the bridge @ Sunset Falls on the Stampede sub back in about Oct 2007 on a nice partly cloudy and sunny day!
If it has never been shown online, I'll accept it. 2007 is a bit of a stretch, so I'll call that the cut off. If you have a photo pre-2007, you can always post to the cutting room floor, but for this challenge, you'll have to come up with a 2007 or newer photo.
Whew! What a weekend huh? Well, we're back online so let's pick up where we left off. I'm going to allow some extra time in case anyone was planning to submit an entry but couldn't because they waited until the last minute. The new deadline will be noon tomorrow! See ya then.
Great one Buddy! Were you able to meet up with Jim or any other TrainBoard members while at Galesberg?
I don't think I did, but I met a couple old fella's in the gray Burlington Route Caboose at the museum and had a chat for a bit.
"Healthy as an Iron Horse" Galesburg Yard tour, shop track. I saw a few people take this picture, so we'll see how many repeats I end up with.
Oh! You almost got me! Do you have a preference of which one to submit for the voters? Submissions are now closed.
