Just wondering if its possible for me to exclude the Railroad News forum from my "What's New" link in some way? On average 50% of the new posts are from this single forum that I don't really care to read about. Thanks, Shaun
Hi Shaun, I don't think you can exclude a forum, but all RR News posts are made by "Mr. RSS", the automated news announcer. You should be able to add Mr. RSS to your ignore list under your settings. However this will also eliminate new train store listings as well. But you can go to the TrainStore to view listings.
Well darn! I wonder if it's just set up that way just because it is, or if it has to be set up that way for it's automation posting. Perhaps an Admin can provide a work around.
I know it's an old thread...but I have the same question as nolatron, tried to ignore Mr. RSS, got the same notice he did. Some days I've come in, click new threads, and have 6 pages and go "Ooooh, busy day here." Only to see 3 and half pages are by Mr. RSS telling us "RR news" Is there a way to ignore post from Mr. RSS, or do we just have to click next page, or scan through all the titles first?
So no back door approach? I mean I know I can block members, but not a mod/admin? Even a bot mod/admin?
I would like to see a separate forum for railroad news so it doesn't occupy space in the discussion forums, as in Quick Link, 24 hours. Just a thought.
Well, Mr. RSS has his own forum already called Railroad news. Quick Link and 24 hours aren't actually forums themselves.
No. Staff members do not ignore anyone, so it might be only the many other users. But that would be hidden in their profile, where other logged in users cannot view.
Yup...I don't care what sort of stuff is going on with the Polish Rail system. Or that in China they are putting in a high speed rail. Or how much revenue NS made in the 3rd quarter of 2012. It has no relavance on the model railroading I do. This is 99% of the railroad news that is posted by Mr. RSS. That and new trainstore listings, but if I want to look there, I can just browse over there. Kinda wish Railroad News Forum was like the cattle car, where I can opt out of it if I want too.
What Rick said. That is true, but when I log in, I click on the "New Post" I don't go only to N scale or HO, or fallen flags or BNSF etc. I see every thread that is new or has new post on it since I last logged in. And some days, Mr. RSS seems to have 75% of the "new" post.
I can't resist. This has more then one way to play out. Excuse Me Boxcab, I need to take you off my ignore list so I can catch what it was you said. Heeheehee. Oh, there it is. Well, that should get'r done and thanks for the official answer... grin! On the other issues as noted by BN Freak, I would like to see RSS excluded from either the New or 24 Hour forum. Again...just a thought. No body asked me what I thought and I'ma not sure why anyone would...anyway.
So bringing this back up, being that the trainstore is now its own subforum, is there any chance we could either opt out of seeing Mr. RSS threads in the "New Post" feeds or "24 Hours of Trainboard"? Some days its not so bad, its only 2 or 3 post, but others, it seems to be 70 post that are all Mr. RSS. Maybe set up RR news forum like the Cattle car, where I can opt in or out of it.
