As you know we use a few 1/200th scale plastic boat kits on Cuyahoga to fill the harbour. I picked up a new Revell release on Friday on my way to modelrail live

It made by Revell and is 1/200 Hermann Marwede Search & Rescue Vessel # 05812 and cost £8.99 which I didn't think was bad.

here is a link to a U.K shop i am sure you can find one in the states who stocks it

    http://www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/...rwede-search-rescue-vessel-05812-p-34875.html

Its quite modern but also quite small so should fit a few docks

John-- When I first saw this thread, I thought you were announcing the release of the tug boat and barges.
Kev--I really like all the boats you have on your layout!! If you could list them I'd appreciate it-- I have built up a fair Z Fleet. Hope my LHS has the SAR.
Hope this works. Can't get into all foto sections in this new system.

    Fred,

I wish the new NSM items came up faster on The N Scale Architect http://www.thenarch.com/ web site but all the barges and tug boat should be in production and for sale. The Open Scow Barge is listed there for purchase as well as a new helicopter. I will check with Russ Kaufman on their status and post it here. Thanks for your continued interest it means a lot.

    Yours,

    John

John, those boats and the chopper are great. My question is, when are those guys gonna make tha N scale coal breaker in Z scale? That would be the thing for guys that are coal haulers.

Do you mean the N scale Lackawanna Coal Company kit? I'll have to talk to Russ Kaufman, the owner of the The N Scale Architect, to see if he will produce it in Z on a limited basis.

    Loren,

Not sure, I'll have to check with Russ Kaufman since he developed it.

None of us (a bunch of military helicopter pilots) recognized it.

That's ok. I'm going to have a couple of them painted up as tourist choppers sitting at my airport.

The helicopter looks like a Lynx from the UK.

I'm trying to find the SAR boat to look at. That might be usable as a pilot boat, too.

The SAR boat model is a rework of the large Smit ocean going tug. The helipad was added. I wish it came with a helicopter though. I recently found a toy helicopter that would work. A really good model of a BK117. Haven't scaled it out yet, but looks spot on for Z.

It looks like you're right. And I'm embarrassed.

Once I have got Zedex 2011 out of the way I'll photograph the boats and post them here with a description. The workshop is full of 'Shasta' at the moment and I can't move!

The one I bought is not a rework of the big tug, we have one of them on the layout and it is a big beast. The Herman Marwede is all new tooling has a hull about 11 inches long and no helipad

My appologies. I got this new one mixed up with the Dutch Coast Guard ETV Walker. That one is a rework of the Smit Rotterdam/London.
