I did some research on our old RLW GP38-2 roadnames and roadnumbers. As I recall we released the following:
SP rns 4820 and 4836 (there was one more that I cannot remember)
    BN rns 2084 and 2329
    CR rns 8205 and 8209

The Gp-38 is it this/close to release

Hans and Robert, I am breathlessly awaiting the arrival of this magnificent resurrected
model, counting the days until release. Your latest estimation: How many roadnames initially: and the price for this entry level model: When will you annouce the special salute
    to Don Buchard:

I was hoping some brilliant modeler would develope a special AZL GP-38 detail package
that would truly enhance this beauty even more than the bare un-detailed shell.

    Gerd this is your calling.

We are waiting for delivery details. As soon as we know more we will release the price for the two Don Bouchard GP38-2s, one SP and one BN. Hopefully I can get back with information next week.

Glad the LIRR never had any GP38-2s! ;)

I've again the same question than when any new model is released: is an undec scheduled sooner or later?

    Rob,

Correct, I was injecting a little East Coast model railroad zing. The LIRR actually had them in three cool color schemes.

Gonna put out the high hood version in NS so people like me who have no intention of going modern will have no choice but to buy because they grew ups seeing those whales? :D

Warning: Start saving NOW. Based on what I'm hearing from our factories, it looks like between now and September there will be an unprecedented number of new products released. Lots of surprises in store. Stay tuned.

    Tosh,
I am not an AZL dealer, but you can order from Anthony at Z Monster Trains when the locos are released. http://www.zscalemonster.com/z.htm

I do not believe you can pre order these locos, but there will be plenty of announcement once the locos are released.

We just got a delivery date from the factory and it looks like the Z scale Convention in Denver will be the first point of sale. As mentioned earlier, we will sell the Don Bouchard SP and BN GP38-2 first. Look for a special announcement regarding the Bouchard locomotives. Enclosed are some prototype photos (photos are not of the final versions).

I'll bring my money Hans. Gotta get a couple to paint into CORP livery. Of course you could have done that in the first place and saved me the trouble )

It will be possible to reserve a locomotive even if you do not show up in Denver. Drop Ztrack Magazine an email.

    Some more details:

    1) We are pushing the factory to delivery the "Don Bouchard" models in time for Denver (Standard warning: we don't have them in hand, so anything can happen between here and China - but we are pushing hard)
    2) An important note: This is a charitable release. Profits from the Don Bouchard models go to support Don's family. He was killed in a motorcycle accident last year.
    3) The Don Bouchard models are limited to BN and SP - they have his name on them - 250 units total. (That's all we could get in time for Denver) And they sell for a slight premium price in order to maximize the benefit we can do for his family. Additional donations are welcome and will go to the family.
    4) We will release the other GP38-2 models in the next few months. Road names are: SP "Speed Lettered", BN "Cascade Green", BNSF "Swoosh", CN, CP "Beaver", CSX "New Image YN3", NS, UP, ATSF "Blue/Yellow Warbonnet", SOO, MILW, GTW, and Undecorated (Pimer Grey with Black Trucks) Four road numbers of each.
    5) Price: to be announced. Hint: our goal is to make sure the first digit is not "1"
    6) Gerd told me he likes it when we release models that are less than perfect because it keeps him in business. This is our new value entry level product, so I'm sure there will be many, many aftermarket opportunities to improve the product. We're not at all ashamed of what we will be delivering for the price: coreless motor, separately applied horns, POM hand rails, fiber optic directional lighting, window glass, highly detailed paint, prototypical dimensions (not overly wide for the motor), traction tires, and the strongest pulling power of any Z scale locomotive I have ever tested.

    Happy Friday!
