I've been stocking up for some future projects. The SD60 will be rebuilt to NS 6920 and the hoppers will be redone into NS, 2 being done in the new Pier 6 50th anniversary paint scheme.
I have been waiting a long time for this!!! I have seen custom units go on the bay for 200$ plus. I thank Kato/Kobo for doing this. I LOVE IT!!!, new favorite loco. Now I just need to paint the SOO GP 35 in the bicentenial scheme. Adios, Wyatt
A weekend at the 'Springfield Show' and lots of 'Thomas' stuff for the 4yo. That was my budget for the year.
A while ago, I acquired a functional DCC equipped Kato GP38-2 (revised version, according to Spookshow). Unfortunately it needs more cosmetic work than motor work. Meaning, it is going to be hard to grab cabin and battery box shell online or anywhere else. Luckily, Kato do offer replacement only for body frame and new horns.
Well, it happened again !!! It seems every time I mention something here, it winds up on Ebay within a month. This time it was 5 older Concor Corrugated Bilevel Commuter Cars (1 cab, 4 coaches) in CRI&P, plus a LL BL2 in CRI&P Blk/Red. I know these are older cars because they have the "somewhat correct" weights on the bottom. Plus an ad for a 1987 catalog on the back of each jewel case !!! Now, let's see. What do I need next ??? I KNOW !!! A snow blower !!!
I finally decided to take advantage of Rapido's latest offering and try out one of Athabasca's car kits. (To explain how that makes sense, one of the two upcoming cars from Rapido is the Cafe-Bar-Lounge and someone had put the Athabasca kit for it up on eBay. Naturally, there wasn't much demand for it.)
A parts LL F40 for my hasn't-moved-since-July Cabbage project, swapped a bad truck for a good one. Now I took out the glass on the parts model, scratched it to look broken, and I plan to weather the model and put it in the weeds somewhere!
And i got a GREAT deal on the bay. "Unused", with broken mtl coupler $78 shipped. Looks fine. Rolls great. I put the metal wheels in another mtl wheelset. Now i just have to figure out how to judge flow and which locos can pull it and a centerline to dry with. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
It will likely take two locos. To get it to flow remember to leave the filler cap loose so it can vent air into the tank as it drips. PS DO NOT touch other cars or locos if you put alcohol in it. Mike
I indulged and treated myself to a Spectrum N Heavy Mountain in the the N&W scheme, closest thing I thing I could find to an Undec. I did have to change out the rear coupler to a Unimate to keep things coupled together. I also picked up a copy of Pentrex's 3025 dvd and the China Steam Spectacular dvd. The China Steam Spectacular gives new meaning to stark landscapes. Mark
New Kato GS-4 #4449 daylight engine. All brand new. It is now running around my layout. A wonderful gift from my dear girlfriend (in reality its our money so I kinda did bought it)!
Atlas N LIRR C-420 218. In the midst of detailing it now. Have Batwing snowplow mounted, moving horns to self made bracket on side of long hood, added cab shades, and Z905's. Joe D
Just acquired a few Atlas C55 #5 turnouts from another TB member. Hoping to make a deal on a couple more, plus a couple more sections of flex track. Otherwise, nothing new train wise. Did get medical benefit approval notice yesterday!
