On more then a few occasion, I have been soldering some track and removed the soldering iron holding it to the side so the track can cool.
    Eh! whats that smell?
Guess what is in the way of the hot tip?
But nothing really stupid like burning up the whole train room.
Plastic building sure do look funny with melted spots. Though like dust it is not really weathering.

Poked a few holes in me with pointy dental tools also.

Okay, my stupid one also involves the soldering iron. I used my bare fingertip to steady it while I soldered something. Took surprisingly long for me to feel all the layers of my skin get burned.

Seriously, I think Boxcab might have been wrong about the categories these fall into. It's actually 'soldering iron' and 'everything else.'

Most indubitably, I believe you are correct.
    Soldering iron is Numero Uno!

    Oh, Lordy...lordy...

    Soldering iron... (hisssss... OW!)
Very sharp blades... (gasp... thud (fainting))

No... I don't faint unless the volume of blood lost is bigger than a small puddle...

My Dad is the fainter in the family. Mom always made fun of him...:teeth:

I did one better! I was drilling some holes thru the benchwork for some wiring to go thru. I was in an awkward position and met some resistance to the drill, and simply applied more pressure to the drill. I was steadying myself with my other hand, and somehow managed to push the drill thru the wood and all the way thru my Lt. hand! Talk about smarting!:rats:

Well, I believe this moves you well up the list for an Ouch Award.

Maybe we can talk Mike Fifer into presenting a trophy or two. Perhaps a melted box car in the scale of that winner's choice? A plaque with a piece of twisted and useless flex track affixed?

It could be called the Flexi. Because one will twist up like it when in pain.:headspin:
    Just my thoughts.

Not a tool mistake but along same lines ...I was in suit and tie for a work reasons and before leaving, went over to my
brass Akane consolidation (when still in analog 7 years ago) that my father surprised me with in 1957-ish..MY cufflinked dress shirt cuff caught the smoke stack of conie and through the open grid bench she went; hitting slab floor. Stack and pilot now bent and boiler in two..!! I think I teared up that day...I did come home later and got it straightened by eye and used CA glue on boiler..Engine is mothballed now and was running fine before going DCC year or two ago...Guys...try to have a rule: Always wear short sleaves around the RR.....I know a club with this law....Don't even roll up long sleaves...

And our club issues only long-sleeve shirts. I refuse to wear them for this reason...

Hey mike (above), why do you post a photo like this if it's " not train related " ? This is a , hello, a model train forum, not a pity potty forum...We all have bruises aches and pains ..This belongs in a medical or health forum, not a hobby forum..It grossed me out and I'll guess others in this thread, too. No one wants to be thinking of ' pre-skin cancer ' whilst enjoying Tboard and MRRing...And there are young ones on board, to boot. It scared me and I'm 64 ! I am not flaming. I am execising my membership rights to call this grossly out of place, posting a skin ailment photo during hobby time...If this gets me in hot water with Trainboard, fine.. I know I said what needed to be said here and now...Especially when it's not train related,... really !

You certainly have a right to respond, Mark, but you could have done that privately, rather than calling Mike out publicly. It would have been more courteous, and at least as effective.

Mark , you are correct , I should not have posted it here. I now can not get rid of it.

I did however start the thread so please feel free not to read any of my others.

Got involved with this addicting hobby.

Actually, I built a layout for someone who didn't know what they wanted, couldn't run it after it was built and eventually destroyed it because he really didn't know what he was doing. That be the stupidest thing I've ever done.

    Yes.

The original complaint would have been best directed to TrainBoard Staff, who would then make any necessary decision as to appropriate or not, take action or not. A click of the "Report Post" button...

Stupidest thing I've done last month: do not transport bottles of plastic weld in your trunk. Especially if the lid can come loose, and most especially if you have floorbodies to athearn cars loose in same said box, which could in the presence of a mostly full bottle of Ambroid plastic weld turn rubbery, and bond itself, the wheels, windows, other cars to the bottom of a CARDBOARD box...

I can proudly admit I have never tried to drill a hole through myself with a dremel....

I have hower attempted to sand one off... It doesn't work. With my allergies, I've threatened to take my nose off though.

Also, I have learned that certain parts of a soldering not inclusive of the handle but not directly the business tip can prove to be #^#*%%*}€{* ##%^ HOT! And I highly encourage being brilliantly aware of wher the heat sink for it is sitting. Also, not that I've done it, but I've seen it happen, getting tangled in the cord and flipping the soldering iron is NOT a good idea...

I think we all can agree that round is also not the proper shape for an Xacto knife. I am sure that more than one of us has had one roll off the table and tried to catch it in our lap of the top of our foot !!!!!

I fumbled a running dremel tool with a small diamond deburr cutting tool . I was working in my boxers and dropped the dremel in my lap, I wish I had been wearing a major league ball cup.

OK, this doesn't even come CLOSE to burning myself with a soldering iron (rite of passage in Engineering school, doesn't count) or dropping a running Dremel tool in my lap (ouch!!) ...

But I did prime a model kit on my front porch, without laying down enough newspaper to cover the overspray... I now have these odd gray paint splotches all over my front porch. And I have no idea how to remove them.

Not painful, but really stupid in the "easily preventable, and scores major negative points with the missus" category.
