Two relics from the CB&Q era. The Illinois Railway Museums E5, Silver Pilot is pulling the Nebraska Zephyr. Here the train set is coasting around 70 MPH. She is an old gal but she has held up real nice and it was not uncommon to see she her doing 80. Here she is going underneath one of the signature CB&Q era wooden overpasses just outside of St. Augustine Illinois.

    A true passenger train!

Two in one. Nice catch, Jim. Is that a road bridge or just foot traffic?

This NS train just came across the bridge above the engines. They came from the left to the right and came down a loop of track. To the right is the double track mainline of the CSX Huntington Division.

In the top photo what does the white paint across the track indicate? Looks like a nice detail.
As for the bottom pic, um, how long till someone produces it in "N scale"?

This bridge, photographed ca 1975, WAS a street traffic bridge located three blocks from the center of the financial district of Corpus Christi, Texas.

It crossed a mile long connection between the Southern Pacific and the Texas Mexican Rwy.

The track ran below grade level and it gave the nickname "The Cut" to the entire neighborhood. The track was gone when I first saw this bridge in 1966, and I photographed it just before it was demolished in 1976.

I included this bridge on a layout I designed for a New England gentleman who was interested in modeling Corpus Christi.

Could you locate this for me on a Google map aerial photo? I'd sure like to take a look at this area and get a better feel for how it lays on the land.

Is this a main track? Or a secondary line?

Nice fall colors in the background. Really makes those greens stand out.

The white paint indicates the holding point for trains near grade-level crossings.

Thanks Ken. It is still a road bridge. There is still a few of them in Illinois. There are at least three or four on the C&I BNSF line between Rochelle and Savanna Illinois.

This is indeed a mainline -- CN's Lac-Saint-Jean subdivision between Garneau yard (near Shawinigan, QC) and Chambord, QC (in the Lac-Saint-Jean region). There are some pretty crazy grades and curves on that line!

FYI, no UP diesel has HEP.

As for the extra diesels, its incase 844 goes down. That way the train can still continue on
