Just watch TV or listen to radio. You see errant captions or hear grammatical errors all day long. And these are people who somehow possess college degrees. Lame excuses abound. It's disgraceful. A part of the problem is the texting fad. Where it's OK to use all lower case, no punctuation, acronyms, and spell everything incorrectly. Such laziness becomes habitual.

Except for the crazy price, this would make a great addition to a scrapyard. Just weather the crap out of it to make it rusty as heck, and stick it in a corner somewhere. (for you steam lovers, yes, I like steam, but this corpse is best left to rot alone. In the rain.).

    Notice, please:
If you inspect each photo, you will see absolutely no trains, nothing on the rails at all. Yes, there are automobiles, trucks, a crane...but no railroad equipment whatsoever. The writeup is carefully crafted (it doth appear) to emphasize the wonders, drawing your eye away from the fact that there are no trains at all for 50 grand.
Then you get to pay to move it...and buy trains with decoders.

    One.
    Heck.
    Of.
    A.
    Deal.

I believe there is or was a web site associated with that layout. I recall seeing a few photos there of trains. Even if we were to get rolling stock with it, there'd need to be a large batch of rare and expensive brass included at that same price.

I found a nickel and a penny under the car seat. Just need to raise a few more dollars and it's mine!

Not exactly sure what catch phrase game this is...but an Athearn Kato Set?
Twenty five, plus almost nine bucks shipping for an undec dummy.
Somebody needs this rare Athearn Kato Set.

    Opinion.
    Dave

oops...another, different seller, buck cheaper, made up for it in a buck more in shipping. Must be a LOT of undec Athearn dummy Geeps out there.
In all my years in Half Zero, never saw a dummy Geep.
Look what I missed out on.

Must be the same seller as two posts up. Athearn Kato Set, yet in description he calls it "They have weight to them maybe con-cor or athearn brand???"

Athearn, Kato, Con-Cor....yet looks for all the world like MDC cars I have on a shelf.
Asking is 26 plus 8 shipping, 34 total for a BIN.....never paid anywhere close to that for any of the ones I have. Usually in the bottom of a box of free junk.
But, here's your chance to get some of these rare Athearn/Kato/Con-Cor Set cars!
Should be fairly easy to take the remains of the decals off with your thumbnail...

    OPINION!

"aristocraft ho scale 4 6 0 steam locomotive for kato train set"
That's what it says. I do believe the time line for the demise of Aristo imported half-zero ended long before the time line for Kato began.

Surprised it's allegedly in good shape. Those Aristo jobs suffered from Zamac Rot something fierce.

Still a lot of money for something with zero parts support anywhere.
Plus Bob wants ten bucks to ship it.
    I'd give it a 15, 20 delivered, maybe.
    Opinion.

"We found this in the basement pump sump".
Rusted, corroded, smokebox front and cab probably sold separately, crosshead guide(s) missing (probably rusted away) tender step snapped off, even on boiler handrail support snapped off....top of stack damaged...boy, the cylinders have more corrosion than I've seen in a while...
    Good disclaimer:
"I do not know if they function. There is rust/corrosion."
I picked up an English 0-4-0 complete in far better shape last train show for five bucks....no tax, no shipping.
So, Mantua (not ALCO), five bucks delivered.
    Opinion.

    BIN of 30, free shipping.....
Version 3 at least (worm on motor shaft, motor forward of cab), fireman's side valve gear pretty bad...missing eccentric crank, eccentric rod, at last three rivets.
Pilot (cowcatcher) GONE..snapped off....paint...well, full strip down and glass bead hopefully will fix it.
One rear step snapped off tender.
Looks like the back of the cab roof has some fairly serious issues. Maybe fixable.
I love the home made blue drawbar. Really disappears when looking at the engine.
Not sure what the metal clip with the rectangular slot is hanging out above #3 driver.
Five bucks for parts at a swap meet is all I'd give.
    Typical evilbait get-out-of-jail card:
    "has not been tested"

    Opinion.

Custom built my hindquarters. It's a K-11 kit Model Die Casting with a bunch of stuff missing and mis-assembled (like, it appears the crosshead support is backwards). Headlight, number board, class lights, top tender railings, mangled handrails, missing oil bunker, somebody needs to de-flash those tender trucks.
Twenty five is probably more than it cost new with all the parts in the box.
"Custom Brass", graded "C-5", I don't think so.
Five bucks as is, delivered. Nobody knows if it runs or not, and where are ya gonna find parts anymore for an old MDC loco?
    Opinion.

And the collector assured him they were rare, vintage, valuable, and that he'd have no trouble foisting them off on someone for at least....eighty bucks.
