N Scalers, how many of you would buy something in QA&P livery? I'm thinking a boxcar or runner pack if we can find some photos.

Please take a number if you are interested.

I came across a book in the Houston Public Library titled Quanah Acme & Pacific which had side builders-photo type shots of two QA&P cars whkich fit my mid-1950s time frame. I made photo copies of them, wish I had kept page numbers and more bibliographic information...

GARX 50000-51999 50'1" IL AAR class RB equipped by Evans DF loaders. plug-door box; 35 cars leased to SLSF 1955. (don't remember for sure whether or not this had a any QA&P markings...)

95800-95999 pix #95883, one of 6 cars listed "Note T" in 1954 Official Railway Equipment Register as LP bulkhead flats for wallboard. used for wallboard from Acme TX.
Car length 43'2"; between bulkheads 37'6", ht of bulkheads 6'6"

Well, a single QA&P would be good for me. A good, old fashioned forty footer?

    I'd be good for one, maybe two. I think that's # 6 & 7.

I'm interested. Out of my era, but definitely IN my locale. That and the FW&D boxcar that Atlas just announced have me thinking of putting together a steam era train again. I would prefer something good for early/mid 1940's, but not critical.

Curious about that bulkhead flat though...that would REALLY be cool. I wonder if the Atlas pulpwood car would be close?

Hmmm... a 1950's car with a very unusual name. Never heard of it... but... certainly would fit my time frame. I'd be a buyer for one.

BTW... Micro-trains has put out twin-packs of cars on a few occasions... Tex-N-Rails did one in the mid 1990's as a special run. Does Micro-trains require a minimum order of 300 for twin-packs too? After-all... it would seem that 150 twin-packs would equal 300 individual cars if the two cars were identical except for the road number. If there is good documentation for 2 QA&P boxcars with different road numbers... I'd be in for a twin-pack.

Right you are. We could do 150 packs of two. I would go for a runner pack of 4 actually. One of the problems is finding pictures of QAP stuff. It is out there but hard to find. This run would be a big one for me. If we could find 100 people that would do a pack of 4 that would be great.

For something this esoteric, I would absolutely do 1, probably 2 if a two pack is all that is available, but wouldn't do a 4 pack.

Yes, and I have access to another source of photos that will not allow them to be posted but will let them be used for car production. So, we could probably make it happen if we can get the numbers.

The 35 QA&P cars were somewhere in the 50550-50599 range. Cars 50550 and 50569 did have the QA&P "Quanah Route" logo and 50569 also had "The Transcontinental Cut-off" written in large stylized letters.
