Just in case you were planning on coming, I just received word this morning from one of the organizers that the event is cancelled. I don't have any news about whether it will be re-scheduled or what, and I am not one of the organizers, and last I checked the website was still not updated, but in case you were planning on coming you may want to make different plans.
I just got this email ten minutes ago (posted to a yahoo group from one of the organizers). --------------------------------------- The Meet'n'March planning group just received notice late yesterday from the Valley Catholic School administration that the Meet'n'March Show will not be able to use their facility as originally planned due to the confluence of the Easter Holiday. The school traditionally closes its campus to all uses during the Easter Weekend and our school coordinator failed to make the connection with our use request and Easter as it is coming so much earlier this year. Accordingly, we have decided to cancel the show for March 30. If you know of someone that was planning to attend the show that is not a part of this list, please forward this message to them as well. It is possible, although only a slim chance at this point, that the show will reschedule for early April, but this won't be decided until later today or early next week. From the horse's mouth! Mike
Ouch. That is a very poor action by the school. Coming this close to the show. The expense and more caused by their error....
I'll let the organizers and the hosting site slug that one out. I just wanted to get the word out if there were any folks who had made travel plans (as I know of at least four who had) to come to this who were not getting reached by any of the emails to vendors and layout folks.
I see 2 faults on this. First, as Ken stated from the school. This close to the event it is very poor action on their part. And the second being by the planning committee. The event is a Saturday only show. And lets not kid ourselves here, did they really think the attendance would be good on Easter weekend?
I am just posting this as a PSA. Personally, I was impacted, too, because I had completely reoriented by Fri-Sun to be able to attend, and I didn't have hotel rooms or anything involved. I am not part of the planning committee, but since the word seems to be getting out slowly I figured I would help amplify the message a little.
Thanks for that Adam. I will let the guys in my club know. I know Keith Lyons normally attends, so I am sure he would like to know before making the trek to PDX.
thanks for the news, Adam, I'll also pass the word to our guys. I know several were planning on attending. Maybe it'll go back to the "Meet In May".
