This is about a 20 year ago build. It started off as an undecorated Athearn unit. The cast grill was replaced with louvers and a new grill. Spark arrestors and the old wagon wheel antenna was put on. The pilot was changed and other details were added. It was also remotored with a can motor and constant/directional lighting was added. It is still one sweet running unit. I don't want Boxcab to have a heart attack about the number. This was done from a photograph prior to being renumbered into the 500 series.

Speaking of 20 year ago builds. Here is a SD60MAC while maybe not 20 years ago but 17 or so. This started as a RPP SD60M that I heavily modified by stretching the hood by 3 ft, 1 ft just behind the cab and 2ft just behind the rad section, it has been so long ago that I cant remember all the mods but it ended up 3 ft longer, which matched the prototype. Many Cannon, DW, DA and other parts as well as handmade stuff. also had to stretch the frame 3 ft behind the fuel tank. I always wanted to redo using P2K shell to start with but it just will have to do. I built this while working for BN in Alliance NE, used a tape measure to get things located, I am sure those guys mostly thought I was nuts crawling all over this thing measuring and taking pics but I had a good time doing it. This was a starting point for a few other builds. Thanks for looking

Back when I used to model modern BN o built 3 SD60's from RPP shells, one oakway SD60 and 2 SD60M's in white face, one of each cab. I seem to remember I had issues with tracking on the SD60 but not the M's for some reason. I don't seem to have photos of them anymore That is a nice looking 60MAC. I just have to insert something a little different amongst all these American locomotives! This is my pride and joy. Virtually scratchbuilt. SŽ 362 "Bellows". The real ones now sadly retired.
Built this way before Athearn came out with the SD45 TM's its a RRP/Athearn kit-bash I can remember leaving Grand Junction headed to Minturn with a gaggle of these things, bells a ringing restarting them all the way, if they restarted at all. Just try and get paint to peel when you want it to.
This is kind of a locomotive slug of the day here. Built the TEBC6 using P2K/ Athearn BB parts and bunch of styrene and Cannon parts hand bent all the handrails run8 windows and Richmond Controls light kit, this is one of the more difficult kit-bash/scratch projects I have ever attempted. I milled the frame out where the motor sits so it would be powered as this thing is expected to pull 50-60 car trains out of the receiving tracks to be sent over the hump for switching. Chassis is Athearn BB and is re geared with a balanced motor for better performance at slow speeds. The SD38P is from a RRP GP35 shell that was stretched and Cannon parts, end steps and platforms from a damaged SD40 were installed. The dynamic brake blister was a modified Athearn part and detail associates exhaust stacks doubled up to get them long enough. Put the horn on a stand and bent the piping to it as well as installed the fans after filling in where the 36" fan used to be. Used a SD45 Athearn BB frame that I shortened and epoxied back together to it could be re geared and work with the TEBC6. While the SD38P was not as challenging as the TEBC6, it was a challenge on its own. Both of these are using the P2K side frames adapted to the Athearn truck for a more realistic appearing truck.
