I'm in the process of assembling a large order of Gunderson Woodchip Hopper which made me curious what other woodchip hopper or gondolas are around. My eye fell on the big Greenville version, especially the sidewall pattern of the sheet metal was very interesting. So how can it be done apart from injection moulding? Some thoughts and the etch template was ready to go. My etcher had a quick turnaround and here is now the result: ends and sides 0.25mm nickel-silver, load and chassis resin-casted. I will offer a kit and RTR later on. Kit will be very easy to built, only 10 parts.

Well, there you go again.......making yet more beautiful rolling stock. Very nice and I'll bet these will be popular. How long are they in scale feet?

I looked at the drawings of something like these in Mainline Modeller a while ago and was considering doing some in resin but yours look spot on! I'll have a few kits if I may . what is the best way to order some?
If they are the ones I'm thinking of they are 70ft over couplers.

reporting marks include GA,MP,AN,KCS,UTBX,SOU,ATSF,SAN,SCL & ASAB so something for everybody probably. I'll probably go for Apalachicola Northern

For more moderen fans you can add the successor RR CSX and NS to the list. GPSX and lots of private owner too. The car is 105mm long over couplers, so that's big for a hopper. I will announce when this car is ready to be ordered, give me some month.

    Gerd,

Did you use the 3D shades of gray to your artwork in order for the etcher to produce what looks like pressed panels on the sides of those cars?

    Hi Tim,
it's half-etched on the backside and scored-in with the hobby knife. Also to mention the sides are 2 pieces: the pressed pattern and the ribs are separate

    Me too Davey!
Really nice looking cars that are uncommon to see on the layout.
