Hey everybody!!! I'm a model railroader in year two now, I was originally a Burlington Northern modeler(don't worry I'll switch back, then to BNSF). For the moment my roster will be DC only untilI can line up my actual career(commercial pilot probably), I switched to the SP&S after seeing SP&S #802 a former BN F3A that was a rotary plow power unit. This probably would've worked better had I done this before my layout thread.
Well, welcome again. Hope you'll stay with the SP&S modeling. If I were to ever model a different Pacific NW road than MILW, it would likely be SP&S.
thank you!!, yeah my ultimate intention for a super layout is a combo of the Seattle and portland subdivisions of the BN. What scale do you model the Milw in?
http://www.t-trak.org/ It is a great little modular concept, which works great for small available layout spaces, or just for having good fun. It has evolved far beyond the basics seen on the site linked above. Module shapes, sizes and configurations limited by imagination and space.
Right now I have under way more than enough to cover our dining table. My hope is to eventually recover health enough to build a shelf in the old train room upon which to place my assortment. We have a small T-Trak Group here on TrainBoard. Not very active right now, but perhaps of interest...

Welcome. Roseville is Just south of the PacNW and I spent some time in lovely Portland. Enough to fall in love with railroading west of the Cascades. I model mainly in HO, but I've got a little project I'm getting ready to start in N.

Welcome aboard, SP&S 750. I'm not a modeler but love 12 inch to the foot scale steam. If you live near Centralia, you are not far from the CC&C and Harold Borovec's No. 15 there, plus the Chelatchie Railroad and the Mt. Rainier Scenic. Ever visit them?

Know that area fairly well. My wife's younger brother and family were residents in the Olympia/Lacey/Tenino vicinities for some years. Of course we explored the MILW and so on, around there. Have many predecessors in my family who lived in the couple of counties from there to the coast. I am sure there are some N scalers around. Perhaps try checking with these guys, and see who they might know: http://mrns.homestead.com/MRNS.html Also, there are a couple of hobby shops, one in Tacoma, and another across the highway from Fort Lewis. They might be able to hook you up with a couple of folks. The well known and several time published Mud Bay & Southern N layout is nearby to Olympia.
I thought there was an N scale club based out of Centralia? Maybe it was HO. I know they made it down to Portland area train shows every once in a while. If nothing else, I recommend a Sunday Day trip to Alpenrose Dairy in Portland Oregon. Modular HO and Modular N clubs are open Sunday afternoons all summer plus cheap Ice Cream. Our Own Steamdonkey74 is a member of the Nscale club.
Ho scale both in Olympia, and Centralia, I'm sure I could mosey on down to oregon, but I have to go see "the lady" first. Thank you for the link Boxcab! Did the MLW run through here? there's an abandoned line out by yelm, maybe it's that bike trail that starts in tenino?
