The long, silver building is what kind of customer? What is the big structure in photo center? A school perhaps?
The long building was a warehouse for storing cotton bails to be loaded on the siding where the two box cars are parked. The cotton was trucked from the gin that was located about 4 blocks away. The large two story off white building was the Plaza Hotel.
In advance of a big invitational operating event next weekend, I put in 5 dispatcher-controlled train order signals. Here a board is down at Farron summit for the pusher set. Have a great weekend! md
Great start by everybody this weekend, some cars that I finished this week! Atlas Phase II 1932 AAR Boxcar, with a 1950's repaint, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Greg Komar Decals. IMRC 50' PS1 Boxcar, replaced door with Athearn 10' Wide YSD, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Greg Komar Decals. Paint scheme is a late 50's repaint. ExactRail PS 5344CF Boxcar Kit, I know they did this car as RTR but I had the decal, so I assembled the kit (with no directions) Painted it with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and lettered with Herald King Decals. Interesting! These seem to me a being worthy of a topic of their own. How built, operated. More photos?
Ooh. There's a memory for me. Ours was a somewhat longer building, but that was one of the small town groceries where we shopped, when I was a boy.
OK, here you go...shots at South Slocan and Coykendahl Train order stations. Construction wise the signals are "powered" with two 0/003" dia. nitinol (memory metal) wires which contract when heated and then move small pulleys in the head of the signal. You should be able to see the wires in the photos. I needed a narrow design which could be installed from above the layout without adjustment. I need to use softer springs to give a bit more "throw" but otherwise they seem to meet the requirements. We shall see how they hold up through 3 days of operations next weekend! Here are six units in semi assembled state. They plug into a standard 8 pin DIP socket from above which in turn is glued into a 1/2" diameter hole through the roadbed. Have a great weekend! md
Nice job, Candy (as usual). That driveway apron looks like the one at my local USPO ... only without the weeds that grow out of the 'toe-catcher' cracks! *grin*
Nice price on the Spam ... I'll be shoping there from now on when they get the broken concrete fixed !
