Bowser says they're still accepting backorders and the C-636s are due out in April.

After I got these fine Bowser 630's I for one have high hopes. Plus they had better be good since I ordered four 636's.

I'd like to have a pair, but the $200 price tag that is not even DCC-equipped is way, way out of price range!

Yeah, price certainly seems a bit high, but they are very special looking locomotives. Too big for my projected layout, but would still love one!

I'm not a fan of using work that isn't mine, but in this case I think this sums up how the SP&S and Alco guys feel:

We've been waiting a long time for these guys to come out.

If they follow the same pattern as the C630, street price at $200 is for DCC/Sound equipped units. Non-DCC versions should be in the $135 range. Nothing to sneeze at, but if you catch a break on certain roads like one vendor currently has a sale on, the price is down to $99 and $149. Wish I could say where, but it's against board policies because they aren't an advertiser...

    Cheers,
    Brian

I hope they sell well and sell out quickly for Bowser. With any luck it will put the MLW M630/M636 on the front burner.

I hope they sell well, too. Ill get one on eBay or at a swap meet in a year or two and laugh all the way to the bank.

I didn't pay what Bowser suggests, but judging by the interest this delayed release has generated I think most if not all of the preordered ones won't be for sale any time soon. Mine for one will be NFS. Its like the Athearn RTR tunnel motors. Here one moment, sold for cheap the next, then gone. My L window with ears seems to have appreciated in value despite being plastic which I think is weird.

Somehow I will get one of these, the price tag is way out of my price range, and they are far too big for my layout but I NEED one of these in green and black, even if it is just to look at in display or caress every now and then...

But I have been waiting for these since I have been modeling.

I um, have a Challenger that fits that description in a display case none the less.

The release date has gone from April to August, meanwhile. At least it still says 2014! Hope it stays that way.

I wonder if the delay in release dates is because Bowser is doing the work in house with their new molding equipment. I would also like to pick up a couple of the delayed C628's and I hope that they aren't released at the same time as the C636's.

They now say a first batch is on the water. So I guess they depend as much on China as basically all the other ones do.

I hope that first batch is fairly substantial, at least. Tried to up my order at my customary internet store, but no more C636s on the list.

That's something I'd be jumping on right away. Those big machines are impressive - There's a 1:1 M636 at the museum here and it's something else to stand beside it. Absolutely beautiful.

I had read on another list they should arrive by the end of the month. Not sure if that is at Bowser or in stores. I decided to skip on the C628's and order a SIXX leasing sound unit.

Apparently the first C636's have arrived at Bowser and should be hitting stores this week.

The only thing that puzzles me is whether the yellow color of the SP&S units is correct. The picture they have on their website (http://www.bowser-trains.com/new/c636.html) looks awfully orange to me, more like a Milwaukee Rd version.

It looks yellow enough to me. Sort like faded UP yellow. Screen settings?

But that's from a guy that calls the front end of a CN loco red instead of orange like the CN peeps do... ;)
