Here's a thread for your eastern (anything east of the Mississippi River) rail fans.

Hey, I bumped into this video and liked it and realized I don't have a way to share it.

I won't be able to give this thread the time I have other's I've started. It'll be up to you eastern foamers to keep this going.

OK. I'll put one up. As I am an HOn30 modeler, along with my N scale, love these little machines:

With the way my health can be, I'll probably never even get to see such an operation in person. So it is slowly happening on my work bench.

Santa Fe on the Pennsylvania Railroad?

Someone once told me that Santa Fe stoves never operated on the Pennsylvania Railroad, in Ohio. Here's a video that says contrary.

Video of Sandusky, OH in the summer of 1956 when Pennsy leased Santa Fe 2-10-4 engines to help with a surge in traffic. This is a really great video with lots of great scenes of both of these engine types, as submitted by dcoursey82.

While back in Ohio, I attended a slide show in Middleton, Ohio and saw for the first time pictures of Santa Fe stoves plying the Pennsy rails. Sorry, I have forgotten the persons name so I can't give proper credit. We had a good time pouring over his slides noting many oddities.

I might add here a Pennsylvania, Steam pulled Passenger Train did come all the way through to The Santa Fe Passenger Station, San Bernardino, Ca. Date unknown.

Watch Pennsylvania RR Steam including a T1 Duplex work their way up Horseshoe Curve in Altoona PA around 1945. Sorry there's no sound, footage was converted from 16mm film, as submitted by John LeBaron.

As many railfans in the northeast know, Memorial Day Weekend for 2013 was to be one of the most exciting weekends this year! Why is that? Well, the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society made a return to the Pittsburgh Line for the Horseshoe Curve Special,as submitted by Blue Comet Productions.

    Ken,

Did you want the video to embed? On my screen it appears to be a link.

Looking for more and found this.

I've seen people going down the road who did appear to be asleep. Had one gal drift off the road to the left shoulder, spin out and come to a stop right in front of us. I've always wondered if she needed to make an emergency change at the next rest stop. I've never figured out how people can read a book and still drive....

Loooooong train! Not as much fun to watch as olden days, with so many box cars and their lettering/paint schemes. Is the lead diesel that paint application which was referenced in an HO topic this past week? And even a blimp to watch....:
