This is narrow gauge, but still HO: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Minitrains-...-unlettered-/141736633524?hash=item21002964b4 BIN $195.00? Why? MSRP is $149.00. They are selling like hotcakes, but are still available. So why an almlost $50.00 markup? Puzzling....?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-ATHEARN-...OX-6-PC-NOS-/331619668769?hash=item4d36129321 Athearn. Blue Box. Passenger cars. Pennsy. Including dome. Six of them. Unassembled. $350 BIN plus $12.50 shipping. Makes it close to sixty bucks apiece without shipping. Astounded, I yam. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-SCALE-AT...-7-27-TOTAL-/301665873853?hash=item463cafefbd 27 empty Athearn boxes for a BIN of $27. Heckuva deal...sell the cars, then make more moolah on the empty boxes.
Pretty crazy, huh? Then I started finding Athearn PRR streamline cars for 12 and 13 bucks. For short BB cars, more than I'd spend, and I have a whole string of oh, six or seven, have about six or seven into them.
50+ bucks for a simple Athearn blue-box car kit???? Nice cars, yes (I have several), but not for that price. Not even if they were FRISCO cars!
Really as used too often on that site it is a rather nebulous word. It probably just sounds good, but is actually usually meaningless.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...720941?hash=item4170b407ed:g:Y~4AAMXQ-9hRGDcA Listed under Lionel...and it is...but first they wanted eight hundred...now you save two hundred and only have to pay six hundred! If I was looking, whole bunch, ten bucks. Period. Unless you really, really need that radioactive car on your pike.....
I think it's legit, she used ALL the buzz words, antique, vintage and RARE. I especially liked the clear photos and that poultry car is to die for!
Hmmm. You're right. Might have been O Gauge at one time, but it appears to have been left out in the sun and shrank to HO.
"Custom Weathered"! And a Tyco to boot....grab it before it's gone! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ho-Scale-Ty...562136?hash=item1a0bf20d18:g:TQUAAOSwAKxWY9Wu John
Oh my............. Must......not......click......bid......button........ Must have been used up north, they always used a lot of salt on the rails........
Good luck with that. I'd imagine if an MR magazine sells for $4.95 it's because someone has a sentimental attachment to a single issue. The rest would sit and sit and sit and ... most people can't give away their old MR and RMC issues. I've put many of mine into recycling over the years so I didn't have to haul them around - I still have a couple 2 or 3 small boxes of old MR/RMC/RMJ/MRG/Trains/PNR/CTCboard/Mainline/Diesels/etc. magazine.
But Jim, you just need to use the words "rare","vintage" and "antique" to describe them, they'd sell like hot cakes!!!
