Would you believe it if I were to say NONE. I would say that I am at terminal capacity. I started my layout over 25 years ago, custom painting many locomotives for my freelance railroad. Over the years I have picked up a locomotive here and there that would fit into my transition era layout and now I probably have more than I really need. I have two engine terminals on the layout and am starting to run out of room. I try to keep all of my locomotives and rolling stock on the layout instead of being stored in boxes. I do have a couple of brass locomotives that I picked up years ago that are too large for my 90 foor turntables, and they do live in boxes. The terminals are near capacity as well as the yards. I do have hidden staging tracks that are now being used to hold the overflow. I have enough.
Wow nice deal sounds like to me. I model SP and since it hasn't been around since 96' everything has pretty much been made already. I'm with you in that I have some Brass pieces that I don't run either. But my other Locos and Rollingstock are used frequently. One of these days I must add a staging Yard so I can keep more pieces on the layout; verses in the Jewel Cases
The only way they could get me to buy a U50 (Which I want in the worst way) would be that all axles were powered, not just 4, not enough tractive effort for such a large engine. Rick J
That would indeed be the way to go, and I agree with you. However if it didn't come that way; I'm pretty sure that it could be modified to be just that way I would think. Or is that a hope that it could be modified. LOL
I have a P2K SD60. Great loco! I also have a Conrail SD50 from Athearn. It is about 10 years old... but, still a good running loco. I just got a Chessie GP40-2 from Atlas last December... awesome engine!!! JMS
I would love to see some of the new GP20ECOs/GP33ECOs, Canadian Pacific and NS have them and they are different in spotting features and cab, but broadly the same. Similarly, I'd like to see UP's SD59MX. But I'm not sure what the broader market would be for all of those.
