The local has delivered the WAMX 178603 to B&B Industries. The first pic shows the local crossing the small North Branch of the Potomac(You said you were a fan of bridges). The next pic shows B&B's loco shoving the hoppers into the unloading shed. The last pic shows an overview with the CSX local getting ready to return back to Bayard, WV. I'm honored John, that will be a great momento of where it's gone. You do excellent weathering! I'll have to get the last of the 6 cars up and running to go with it.

Thanks guys for the nice words! Tom, that is the only bridge on my layout(other than auto bridges over the tracks). Dale, I will be sending the hopper back to you this week(have to go out of town) so, PM your address please! JMS

Will do John. I'm having to cut back on the trains for a little bit. I have a large work project I'm doing for a trade show. And yesterday I managed to get my ring finger into my miter saw. Luckily the blade brake worked good, I only ended up with 12 stitches in mt finger and I didn't get into bone. But I'm left handed and wouldn't you know that's the one I would get. 40 years of woodworking and this is the first time. I try to be really careful and I still haven't figured out how it happened. The board kicked back on me somehow. I plan to look it over good and see what I did. Of course other than getting in a hurry and getting safety complacent.....

Wow, good thing to have a newer saw that had a brake on it. Seen a few guys that wished they had one too.

I'm healing up but it still stings sometimes. I haven't started back up on the project yet. Probably will this weekend. The wife mentioned something about the SawStop Saw but this happened with my miter saw not the table. I've been eyeballing the SawStop saws but I have a hard time with the price for one. I'm using a Grizzly left-tilt cabinet saw and I love it. It's the second table saw I've ever owned, I thought it would be the last too.

Thanks for the good thoughts guys! I do appreciate it!

Just another quick thought, I really enjoy reading the HO forum. There is so much activity on it. It amazes me just how many talented folks are contributing to it. You regulars know who you are, thanks for all the ideas and inspiration!

The sawstop works great my old school had one and it would go off if it was too wet out because of the electrical current

That would give one pause to think, the brake is close to a hundred bucks and I dont run real cheap blades. You're talking close to 200 bucks if it activates. Now if it's your finger, I can say from experience it would be darn well worth it if it prevents hand damage.

Hey Tom, thanks! There is definitely some pink showing in the middle of it. I actually got out there and worked tonight. Couldn't bring my self to use the miter though. I've got a real good miter gauge on my table so I used that for cross-cuts.
Every now and then I tap my finger by accident, it lets me know it still there! LOL

Ive got the 2 sections of the deck substructure built. The decking will go on tomorrow. One of my sons is going to help me cut the panel sheets down.

    Have a good evening guys!

I have begun the planning stage of moving the POC RR into a more climate controlled environment. I will be starting a new layout in a room in the house. I have a 12'-6" by 10'-6" room available. This will allow me to run a true point to point with a future expansion into a center penensula (sp?). I will upload a sketch of my thoughts soon. So if any of you are interested in design, I will welcome your thoughts. I plan to use flex track and Atlas turnouts to keep things simple. It will be DCC and I will eventually have a functioning Y for turning locomotives. I am thinking at least a 48" track height.

I have 2 closets at each end of the run for staging tracks.

Industries will consist of a team track for general unloading, HARSCO Warehouse for boxcars, Word Industries for steel fab and coil steel, Hughes Lumber, Terra Nitrogen or other chemicals and eventually there will 2 grain operations, Gavilon Grain East and West Facilities. Possibly one or two more industries. There will also be a locomotive service building. I want it to be able to support operations with a 2 man crew, possibly more. I want to keep pretty much the industries I have now and maybe add the second grain elevator. The track plan will dictate what I do for more industries.

I hope to start actual construction after the first of the year.

I will post updates as they happen.

    Thanks,
    Dale

Someone asked me to post some pictures of my work project bridge I am doing. Here are the deck sections. These are 30" wide and 71" long. I started the abutments this afternoon.

    Hi,
Sounds good with your new layoutroom in the planning stage. Best wishes for a fast recovery of your finger..Happens to me with a knife, put a new blade in it and soon it went from cardboard into my hand,lol...such things never happen with the old blade....always with the new one.....Murphys law I think.

    Regards,Chris.

    Hi Chris,

Doing that with a new blade is better than having it happen with an old one. There is way more potential for damage! At least that is what I was taught in Boy Scouts many years ago. I think about the new layout and I wonder if I will ever get it done. There seems to be so much going on anymore. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts!

Love this thread. Great photos and very interesting railroad and construction descriptions. Still cringing at the saw/finger interaction though!

Hi Alan, thank you for the kind words. This board is where I seem to spend most of my "net" time anymore and it's worth every minute. The finger is doing better, I just have to be careful of tapping it against something, then it tells me about it!

I got in a little weathering last night, it went a bit too far but I like my Locos to look like they've done some work and earned their keep! I need to finish adding the details to this one. It is a Proto 2000 SD 60.
