I have several passing sidings on my around the room N scale layout. They come in very handy. Passing sidings on slopes shouldn't be a deterrent. Good luck with the healing process. I t will take some time to get back to normal. I've been there with that surgery. Have fun planning your layout in the meantime... Shades
Its been an interesting week for me. Besides the surgery recovery B.S. and being bored on my arse, I did manage to accomplish some things. First I went over where all my roadbed is and put a basecoat of flat paint down. This was easy on me, I had planned this part and many other steps ahead before surgery,so as not to strain anything. When I got antsy and crazed I would do a little something. The base coat is a color that I tried to match from photos of dirt in Montana. A lot more tricky than I thought it would be but I hope I am relatively close. This is the route from Balderdash that splits and leads to Carnage, (left track) and Maudlin, (right track ).. What, am I doing wrong with my pics?? Anyway, This will be two big wood trestles that will go over Palpatation Canyon. Maudlin line on the right, Carnage on the left. This camera location will be tunnels. This is where Carnage will be. The spur in the middle is for a depot or some sort of unnamed business. This will be Maudlin, The spur upfront is for ag use. the one towards the rear are for B.E. Coleye Meat Packing. I did decide to ad an extra track back there for storage use. And no worries, Nothing I did was a strain. Once I started getting uncomfortable, I sat my but down..... All the pushpins you see are to remind me where there are leads at. I still prefer to use joiners for my leads. I need to sit and make a few more when I can. Balderdash is going to use up a lot of them.
Nice progress! And there you go planning obsessively again! Looking good. Keep taking it easy, no need to go for a third time.

Yes, Ken. I do need to come fix this. I tried to copy from another forum I am on. Didn't work. So, I will repost anew. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Since my last post did not work the way I wanted it too. I will try again... This is the two lines heading away from Balderdash. The left goes to Carnage. The right goes to Maudlin.
This image shows what will be two tall wood trestles over Palpatation Canyon. This will be my excitement portion of the railroad. It's 44" to the floor from there.. There will be a gravel station on the left where the green boxcar is sitting. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
This is where Carnage ( upper shelf ) And Maudlin will be. At the back of the picture is where the meat packing will be in Maudlin. I did decide to install an storage track next to the one for the cattle pens. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I received my 22'' tomix bridge today. I like the track work on it, but I think the details are ok. But I see no rivets. The one picture shows where it will be when its installed.
Well the last few days have been fun. I got quite a bit of track work done. I was more careful about the lead ins to Balderdash this time. My last layout had some tight curved radius turnouts leading into the yard. Those are gone now. I have put in a lot more feeders for power this time around also. that is what the pushpins are for. This shows the entry to Balderdash from the south. Their will be a double wood trestle for the tracks overhead. This is Balderdash as it sits now. There will be a stub end yard coming off of the turnout on the left. the other two turnouts will go to a turntable an round house.. And the little dinosaur is inspecting the big bridge.. This is of the two lines coming away from above Balderdash. The left goes to Maudlin, the right goes to Carnage. After the two plate girder bridges are is where the tunnels will start.. the following picture is of balderdash from the north. I have another big trestle to build here and I am not positive about the station being used there or not. I will need to see how scenery planning goes... That's all for now, folks....
You have been busy! Looking good. Yard looks a lot more functional than the old one. And much more good stuff for scenery.
Alright guys, I have been testing track lately to find any kinks, or imperfections. I have a couple things to check still and some turn outs to work on. But I wanted to see just what I could pull up my 3+% grade. This is CMB #17, an MP/MRC 2-8-2 mike making a big pull. By the way, I ran out of good rolling cars. Enjoy the video... I like how it was color coordinated for a while, haha. Anyone questioning the quality of the Mike needs to see that video. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Man.... Spent the day at the train show and swap meet in Omaha. Then some shopping at at House of Trains. And then when I get back, I have e request from badlandnp for track rights so he could get a new locomotive home... Never thought I would see one of these here.... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
