N&W 611 - The Blue Ridge Special - MP 25.5

N&W 611 leads NS 957 at MP 25,5 just south of Statesville, NC.

 

I believe that was made to the design of old steam boat whistle. Either that, or an antique boat whistle that's been restored. Whichever, I agree with Ken.

It is supposed to be off another J class, a Hancock Long Bell.

 

Aha, I had assumed a steamboat whistle because it has a low throaty tone, unlike the quillable whistles of the New York Central and B&M I remember as a child.
