I thought this one was kind of funny. Good price but says it is a factory sealed set but it is missing all of the trailers. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Mic...884658?hash=item1eb1419732:g:KNcAAOSw71BXQOfE These are the cars fro the March 1988 runner pack but have no trailers. Then there is the really stupid high priced listings here July 87 release: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MT-64012-AT...430996?hash=item5d640b7514:g:IEsAAOSwJQdXBZig October 87 Release: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MT-64012-AT...431146?hash=item5d640b75aa:g:IEsAAOSwJQdXBZig March 88 Release: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MT-64012-AT...049908?hash=item51e3e903f4:g:IEsAAOSwJQdXBZig This one isn't too bad: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kadee-Micro...268604?hash=item3ac309483c:g:BBMAAOSwn9lXLCyC What is weird is all three releases had the same three trailers. But I lucked out yesterday at the local pusher (a.k.a. LHS). Picked up an open box set of the Mar 88 release for $36.00 plus tax INCLUDING the correct trailers
I don't believe these flats came with trailers. I have the NS version and it came without a trailer as well.
According to the MicroTrains Data Base, all three releases came with trailers. See the above links, The three cars in the package are numbered 293274, 293284, & 293294. Those are the cars from the third release from March 1988. I purchased the March 88 release set Saturday and they came with trailers.
Gotcha. I was curious as the NS one did not come with a trailer new ( unless someone stole it between Microtrains and the hobby shop). I didn't see any mention there being a trailer as all it said was "see individual listing." Now I have one of the 89' flats with containers and it cross referenced the container item number. So that lead to my obvious confused state. I don't drink so I can't blame that. I went back and looked and the 89' flats that have trailers don't cross reference the trailer item number either. Unless I'm missing something in the database listing. It's possible. I didn't open up the other links as some of the prices that get put on Microtrains offerings give me headaches from rolling my eyes too much.
That MTL TOFC 3-pack - with the trailers included - should look like the one in this auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kadee-Micro...-with-BN-SF-and-NW-Van-Trailers-/252380268604 One clue that this might be a "re-wrap" is that the sheet on the back of the pack that describes the flatcars and trailers appears to be missing. If it was still intact, you should notice a green stripe on the left-hand side of the jewel cases where that sheet has been folded over the ends of the cases. See the two photos in the linked listing.
Points for cleverly disguised use of re-purposed / recycled materials? Or perhaps for creative pricing? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quonset-Hut...075943?hash=item43ef07d1e7:g:fk8AAOSw7ehXRZDP -Note: “No Defects or Missing Parts” ED: Quite a few "gems" by this seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-HAND...683686?hash=item43ef01d5a6:g:yYwAAOSwMHdXRNa7
Ugh. Looking through their items was a trip. I saw a depot, "no missing parts", except the chimney was obviously not present. Got a big laugh from the platform people glued in place. All facing one direction, a bunch of them wearing orange pants.
If the seller is 10 years old, I could see the creative re-purposed items... But it seems like an adult railroader. A lot of money for painted pill bottles: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHELL-OIL-F...097448?hash=item43ef0825e8:g:WnUAAOSwMHdXRZvW Liking the fences glued on as ladders...
LOL.... I have 're-purposed' a lot of things for my layout. Getting gutsy and trying to sell any of them for an outrageous price...I could never do ! Maybe giving them away if a person wanted them bad enough...LOL
I am stunned by their nerve in trying to sell old tuna cans. Glue on a poster and a ladder, then list. Unreal. If this type of stuff sells, we're all throwing away a fortune!
The Shell oil field wins...I quit. That is the worst thing EVER for the dumbest price. Oh wait, he has other things for sale as well. Somebody get this guy some medication.
Same guy, just trucks glued to badly cut plastic pieces with twigs on them (and lead weight glued underneath): http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-HAND...683686?hash=item43ef01d5a6:g:yYwAAOSwMHdXRNa7
Quonset huts (cans) and LPG tanks (cigar containers) $70: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quonset-Hut...075943?hash=item43ef07d1e7:g:fk8AAOSw7ehXRZDP
16 freight cars. "No Defects or Missing Parts" and yet the two cars on the right seem to be missing trucks. Sale price at $259: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Assorted-Ro...412753?hash=item43ef0cf591:g:jRsAAOSwUfNXRfmz
Awww, its all crap and/or just STUPID prices: http://www.ebay.com/sch/trainmanggs...WnUAAOSwMHdXRZvW&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
With these sorry items and these absurd prices, this guy knows exactly what he's doing. He is shooting in the dark hoping to hit any unsuspecting buyer. A single sale will make all of these jokes worth it.
Reminds me a lot of all the telephone robo-calls. Same technique. Just dial and dial, until you hit a sucker.
