Happy Birthday, America! Yes, you're 240, and losing your mind! But hang in there.
The photo today is of my MPI 36s from True Line Trains. The Bombardier cars are from Athearn. (A little side note, the UTA cars are the only ones Athearn had to do a second run of because the sold out...TWICE!)

    My RW&B contribution.

Painted/decaled them both, of course after I did the BN SD60M Athearn did their mass production of them. But I got the only QA&P Bicentennial one LOL.
The Red colors are showing more pale than they really are.

Thanks, Paul Athearn did a great job in painting that loco, just a few small detail mistakes that will be taken care of in the future. I also believe this was the only loco that was painted in Bi-Centennial colors and delivered new by EMD.

Lots of work left to do, but I'm glad to get to this point.

The Denver & Rio Grande rostered 22 EMD GP35s. They really didn't like them, and in 1972 they turned most of them into B units by removing the radios and other things...but they kept their cabs. The 3048 was damaged in a wreck in Swan, Colorado in 1970. It was sent to EMD for repairs, and returned with the stacked RIO GRANDE logo. This was the only GP35 on the Grande roster to have this large lettering.
Here's a shot of my HO scale ATHEARN RTR version. I updated the inertial air filter hatch with a Cannon part. Still need to add the nose light!

IIRC, in 1972 the following D&RGW diesels were demoted to B unit status:

    GP30's 3020-3028
    GP35's 3029-3050 (all of them)
    GP40's 3051-3075

I'm really hoping Athearn Genesis will finally produce HQ models of the GP30 and GP35 with the Mars light on nose.

Thanks. I couldn't remember which group of locomotives they made B units.

May not have the air pumps hanging on the boiler face, but the air tank on the Pennsy N1s was second to none!

Only one problem with this duo. They're way too clean for the Milwaukee Road. Think a bit of weathering is in order.

3059 on 1089.JPG This is a photo of my Atlas GP40 3059, which Atlas released in the SP bloody noes scheme. (I corrected their model, and painted it back to the proper Black & Grande Gold, as God intended.) It is sitting on the drop step of the UP locomotive 2576, which started life from EMD as D&RGW 3059. MK in Boise, Idaho turned it from a GP40 into a GP38-3 for Uncle Pete. The 1:87.1 loco and caboose don't take up much room on the 1:1 unit....You don't get the opportunity to take this kind of photo too often...

Pretty cool. Did the model come with the nose signal light? I've got 4 unnumbered Atlas GP40's which I'll need to number at some point. What decals did you use for the cab number? Most of the number sets I have look like too dark a shade of orange. Yours matches very well.

I had to add the noes light...Details West HL-138. I used the newer MICROSCALE decals, they're more yellow than the 28 series, I think they are 1128.

Found this switcher at a thrift store for $1. It runs but will need some work. It does not have any couplers.
