Crocker Rail Spur from Bayshore Rail Yard, California

This was the far western remains of track that went around the perimeter of the Crocker Industrial Park valley. It served numerous factories and warehouses. It was built in the 1960's. The spur originated from the Bayshore Rail Yard in San Francisco and Brisbane, CA. The track was torn out in 2006 and donated to the Virginia & Truckee Railroad in Nevada.

Nice to know the rails live on. Hope those V&T folks get many years of use from them.

I know of quite of few sidings that sit unserviced in Illinois and Central Missouri, the one that breaks my heart hardest is the mainline C&RI that cuts through Eldon, Owensville and further west to Windsor and KC. Trees grow through the ties, the bridges home to no one but the birds, the silence of the line is eerie at best, rust dominates the old rail still in place still awaiting the next through freight.
