I fear this was bulldozed? I don't recall mention of it still existing?

Did not take much bulldozing. The termites had removed a good amount of the wood and only the stucco was left holding much of it up. It was in danger of falling on any vagrant who might venture inside. The railroads wanted it off the property and there was no way to move it intact.

Bummer. Regardless of it's condition, sad to know another depot was lost. Gone, is gone forever.

I was Santa Fe agent at Rosenberg when the depot was torn down spring of 1979.
There were no termites, the building was safe. The boss wanted it off the tax records,as they planned to close all outlying depots. No one knew it was coming
down,to keep protesters quite. Sp had already abondoned their half of the building ..gcsfagent

Thanks for the correction. I don't know how such stories get started but when they come from a source who seem credible they gain a degree of authenticity. It may have been a case of "sour grapes" because the person telling it was not able to facilitate a move before it was gone. I remember seeing it from the Amtrak Lone Star in the late 70s but gone in the early 80s.
