N scale Metro North GP40FH-2

Here is a little oddity I would never have started had I realized just how hard this would be. Not being an East Coast guy I have only seen pictures of this engine and didn't do my homework very well until the project was under way. What is the old saying? Measure twice, cut once. That really applies to this one in so many ways. For those wondering what this is it was a combination of a GP40-2 chassis and cab with a F45 hood. That is overly simple though as the hood portion is really only similar to a F45 hood. The doors and body panels are arranged completely different. There is just one Dynamic Brake fan, and 4, count them four radiator fans. To complicate things even farther the fuel tank is very small and the entire hood overhangs the chassis by several feet with no rear porch of any kind. Not some of my best work but good enough and certainly odd enough to warrant a little display here. No need to criticize this as I already know what things are wrong and what could have been done better. I am a custom painter and work on a schedule that dictates not only a delivery time line, but a final price which is acceptable. Given several weeks and an unlimited budget this could have been executed very well. It is what it is an odd little N scale engine that will turn heads
