Great photo! The lighting, composition, layout realism, locomotive detail and weathering are top notch! Great photo Pete! Bill Mock
Thanks very much Bill. I think sometimes I like the photography part just as much as the modeling. This shot was taken by merging three photos (different focal points) using "Helicon Focus" software. I did like the results, but I think I got some movement on one of the shots (cheap tripod) because the lead loco is a little fuzzy. In regard to modeling, I think the weathering piece is my favorite. If you're interested, I have an article in the May/June 2008, edition of N-Scale Magazine on how I approach weathering (titled "Unweathering"). Thanks again for the kind words! Pete
That's an outstanding job... my 7 year old thought it was real until I explained to him. I think you single handedly tripled his enthusiasm for my work on "our" layout! Thanks for posting!
Very cool! Glad I contributed to increaseing you Son's interest in the hobby. My two boys (not quite 7) are just as wound up about trains as I am. It's Thomas the Tank Train from the time they get up until they go to bed! Pete
So this really is a model? Everytime I see this I keep thinking it's real. That really does say alot about the craftsman imo.
