Here is part of the fleet. A pair of helpers returning light. 704 is the last unit purchased new in the old sar paint scheme while 709 represents the latest scheme. The next five 70mac's will get flared rads and the newer scheme. grant
Thanks chessie. I railfan a lot on the NS and I've really taken a liking to the standard cab Dash 9's. So I decided to try to make one for my layout. I picked this unit to copy because of its unique quirks. It has the horsehead scheme but without the white face. The NS painters also labled this unit on the cab as a D9-40CW. So I did too. If you wanted to know more about how the model was made, I wrote a little on that in this thread. http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/9/t/004614/p/19.html Hope that answered your question.
Grant, I like how your fleet has prototypical scheme differences,a nd how it gets more and more modern. Very plausible, I say. And a nice shot, to boot!

I had the same initial thought when I opened this one. Of course, my count drops pretty quick if we exclude 30 year old Minitrix, Arnold Rapido, etc, or duplicate road numbers (what was I thinking? I'll never get those all renumbered!) and I suppose the meltdown of railimages is totally avoided if I exclude anything that doesn't run. So rather than publish a "shopping list" for thieves, I thought I'd take the high road and just post a few "favorites":
Like my fellow outlaw above, I'm not in a hurry to announce to the world what trains I own. If you check out my site, you can see a few items that hopefully will not be in my collection too much longer...hint, hint. Grant, I also like your paint scheme, and can guess you spent considerable time making it 'look right', well done! [ April 09, 2005, 05:20 PM: Message edited by: Warbonnet-Fan ]
When I was 13, I only had one loco that worked - a Mantua "little six" (0-6-0) that was my first kit-built loco, with help from my Dad. 45 years later, I feel blessed to still have both the loco and my Dad. That die-cast shifter shows the advantage of quality. I also had a bunch of inexpensive plastic HO diesels, but none of them worked all that well new, and none of them had the long productive life of that 0-6-0. Bottom line? I'd rather have one good loco than a whole pile of stuff I can't use. There's nothing pathetic about 7 good locos. But a whole shoebox full of expensive junkers, like I had when I gave up on N Scale and went back to O Scale in the late 1970's, now that's pathetic. ( I should add, that I started dabbling in N Scale again in 1995 and dumped my O Scale for good in 1998. So the story has a happy ending after all. )
Here's my little list. The two shays are still on order, and anything labelled Borracho Canyon is still in process thereof. FA-2/FB-2 Borracho Canyon Shay 1 Borracho Canyon Shay 2 Borracho Canyon GP-20 Borracho Canyon GP-20 Borracho Canyon Mogul DRG SD-7 DRG SW-9 Miller High life GP-9 N&W GP-20 Union Pacific GP-20 Union Pacific GP-20 Union Pacific E-7 Union Pacific 2-8-0 Union Pacific SD-7 Union Pacific SW-9 Union Pacific D-bug Union Pacific Plymouth Black 0-6-0 Western & Atlantic A veritable treasure of Life-Likes! Hmmm... well they were all so darn cheap, and I didn't have any plan in place when I started acquiring.
Lessee......even though I'm primarily in HO, I do have a modest fleet, to wit: 1 GP7 1 GP20 3 GP38-2 1 U25B All but the GP20 are to be repainted in Frisco colors, with the GP7 being black/yellow. Oh yes, forgot my LL E8A in Frisco racehorse colors........ All this to pull 40-50 freight cars, various manufacturers, in mid-conversion from Rapido to MT couplers. Possible Frisco secondary line in my future in N scale...
I agree with Bob and Verne I don't want to disclose all I have but here are a few pics of my favorite. My number 1 and 2 models are these Kato MOPACS that were custom detailed and painted by Mitch Hartman. Now that I have started painting myself these are also favorite models.
Thanks for the welcome, I'm enjoying the form. Hemi I'm modeling Feather River Canyon. Back dated the UP WP meger

I still refrain from listing all my steam loco's, but my fleet keeps growing. I've recently added quite a few N scale brass steamers plus quite a few Micro_Ace Japanese steamers plus some Kato Japanese steam loco's. Stay cool and run steam.....
