Received yesterday my shell from Shapeways. I order it in HDA and was very surprised how smooth and clean it is. I am very happy and begin to paint it.

So... it is only the shell... so what underframe and detail is appropriate to accomodate that shell correctly?

Ahhh... i went the Shapeways shop and found that he sells the chassis separately... $20 for white flexible... $30 for FUD (frosted ultra detail).

Kind of expensive to buy both parts in FUD... $50 for the shell... $30 for the chassis.

After adding trucks and couplers... its close to $100... and still have to build an paint it... eek!!!

    BTW...
this is a model of ACF 61' baggage/dormitory car # 729. These 1910 vintage cars were modernized with Harriman style roof and were also assigned to the Ski Train, such as, Ski-Bar car #738

Thanks for the 'heads up' on this item... but... I think I'll wait for a possible Wheels of Time offering sometime during what may be left of my miserable lifetime... lol...

Hmmm... actually WOT could use their 60' baggage car as a starter for a few of the D&RGW Ski Train cars...

If you've waited forever for this car, now that you have spent the money and the time for it...WOT will make a ready to run. That's just how it works. Scratch build something and the next week someone will announce a ready to run...

    Hi,
yes you're right he's very expensive but also scratchbuilding has its price. I waiting more than 20 year for Rio Grande cars but no one made them. Only Intermountain with the Corrugated coach. So for me its very nice to see some 3D printed cars :
