Well the GP39-2 is something I've been wanting for almost 15 years, so sure we REALLY did need one. I have no need for an AS-616, so do we REALLY need one of those? See what I did there... As for the SD9, who knows, Bachmann seems to be odd when it comes to what they are picking to do, as their last few diesel locos have all been repeats of what Kato or Atlas has already done.
Well... as for Bachmann' diesel releases... these GP9, SD9 etc seem mysteriously similar to the models once produced for Atlas, LifeLike by Sanda Kan... which is now part of Kadar (Bachmanns parent company). It appears that the acquisition of the tooling by Kadar has given Bachmann a competitive model to sell against Atlas and Walthers (nee LifeLike). Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
Joe, I noticed that too. However the NW2 they did, is very similar to the Kato one. And that one wasn't a Kadar unit.
Only 5 RR's owned the GP-39s so there MIGHT be a few people who want this as well. But in your case, you are a self described freak
The GP39-2 requires less development. Atlas has already developed the chassis, everything from the walkway down, the nose and the cab...they just have to mix and match the long hood parts that they have for other GP units. Yes, there were only 5 original roads, but they have been sold off and merged into other roads...only 2 roads had an SD45T-2, and that sells out... As for a 6 axle Baldwin, I want at least 4, one in Pacific Electric, one in Southen Pacific Black Widow, another in SP Bloody Nose and one in Magma...since it still runs at the Arizona Railway Museum, and I have controlled it...and instead of an AS-616, can we get a DRS-1500-6-6?
That's a big disappointment to me. I really like the CCS models and was hoping future production runs would allow me to collect enough cars to get close to a prototypical SP Lark. So it goes...
While we are writing our wish lists how about a H20-44 or better yet a 2-6-6-4? How about a P&WV 2-6-6-4 with a Belpaire fire box? What's not to love? Got to be at least one or two people who want them, doncha think?
I did get some shots of the test shell for the Athearn SD70 in N scale: Other photos from Natl Train Show 2017 Orlando here: http://www.pbase.com/atsf_arizona/national_train_show_2017&page=all
I think we need to relay that message to Intermountain Railway with as many modelers who are likewise disappointed. However... please note that they WILL cancel any production runs announced if there is a lack of reservations for the models. They were very explicit about that. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk

This is the first time that the GP39-2 has been made in N-scale right? That's been a super popular model in HO Both the older atlas version and the current Athearn. I'm not sure why that isn't pretty exciting. It is to me. Still regularly seen on BNSF, is a Santa Fe staple and of course pride of the super popular Portland & Western. Anything in GWI colors sells nowadays.
Its probably because N scale has a lot fewer modelers than HO scale. The allocation of modelers may still favor transition era moreso than 70's to present. It's still easy to sell out of most 1940's to 1960's models in N scale. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
