Got release #16 of the American Freedom Train. Only 5 months late! Very nice car though! Car #41 - The Second showcase car. Said to contain: Model of the B&O "Arabian" Steam locomotive Friendship Fire Engine, from George Washington's fire company 1904 Oldsmobile Runabout "The Old Scout" that wonthe first Transcon auto race. The 17th and final car ordered. Said to be On Time, with a July 2018 release!
I had pre-ordered the FVM B&O wagontop caboose in 1955 livery. It's always a nice surprise when something does arrive, like a little Christmas! The last pre-order I have outstanding is an Atlas Baldwin VO-1000 in Western Maryland. I have the B&O version, and it's one of my best runners. This was another nice surprise, because I had contacted Atlas about getting just a replacement body to paint in WM colors.
I was told by someone on Facebook that it's not the correct model for #3003, that it engine door aren't right. Hey, it's N, I don't really care.
We had our annual Great Train Show in the Bay area Thanksgiving weekend and I bought: 1. Another box of Atlas telephone poles for $2.00, but it had 18 poles inside ! 2. Two Deluxe Innovations Twinstack sets. 3. A Green Max set of buses like ones I have ridden before in Tokyo, photo below. And I reserved a pair of the new Bluford Shops bay window cabooses (UP) with one of my favorite dealers. 4 .
I bought another new Shay and it got here last Saturday, put her on my 24x45 inch layout. Went around once, then stopped. Refuses to run. I contacted the hobbyshop and they have one on display to swap me for. Mine is in the mail. Very nice hobby shop.
My last purchase was a digitrax dz126 decoder that I mounted in an older con cor / Kato e8 that I put an even older atlas pennsy e8 shell on.
Those Atlas Shays are really nice... but sadly are prone to issues due to the delicate details along the drive shaft. Even though the drive shaft does NOT actually move the wheels there must be some 'gremblins' lurking in there.... Need to be careful removing from the foam nest Atlas provides... mine are packed tight and hard to get out. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
Picked up another set of DeLuxe Innovations Maxi Stack IV. Set # 4 of the TTX series. Was nice to see Dave is able to arrange fix it washers included with the purchase now.
Just ordered the Soo Line Bicentennial GP35 from BLW......Pic is in my separate post announcing its arrival....
A Kato Slumbercoach bodyshell, 2 Con-Cor 10/6 sleepers, and a Riverossi Baggage-Dormatory and now I can put together something that's starting to look familiar:
Just got this batch of MTL cars from the NSE / Trovestar Classified. I realize there are extremes in eras here. The covered hoppers are for my home layout and the billboard reefers are for a train I am building for my ABBA set of FT's to pull on the Ntrak layout. There is currently almost 700 items listed on the NSE / Trovestar Classifieds and there are some decent deals there. Here is the URL if you would like to check it out. http://www.trovestar.com/general/shop/dashboard.php
I had been buying common road names for my RR set through Trove Star, but I may do as you did and branch out some. I picked up those 10 5bay FVM hoppers from you awhile back.
That's interesting! I didn't know such a Classified existed! Better than the Bay with its outrageous commission fees. The only thing I don't like about this one is the Priority Mail Flat Rate usage. Not conducive for a one car purchase.
I don't think it has to be Flat Rate Priority Mail shipping. It's up to the seller. It would not make sense like you say for a single car purchase or if the buyer and seller are in the same region.
I hope that is the case. Every (random) one that I clicked on says Priority Mail Flat Rate Box and you can fit as many as allows but of course if you are buying one or two.... I'll look more carefully when I have time. When I get a single freight car, for example, on the Bay, shipping is usually $3.50 for First Class. I'm not in that much of a hurry to require Priority Mail.
