I just finished a small logging layout, 24x45 inches. Sure got my enthusiasm up and running. I'm having a lot of fun. Hope things change for you fellows.

Sorry to hear about the divorce, but as you say, you came out of it with the trains intact! I know what you mean about other hobbies, I was much the same, then I started a house renovation which sapped all time and money too. At least I'm just doing the layout room though! :)

I think facebook has a lot to do with that too, lots of groups on there, plus the convenience of a mobile "all-in-one" place to get news, share photos of your latest project, see cat memes and check in with your 3rd cousin's ex-husband's dentist..

Speaking of groups, what happened to the TB groups, can't seem to find them.

Due to some security problems, which could not be resolved, a couple of years back we changed the software upon which this site is based. Unfortunately there is presently no plug-in which we can use to have those Groups. They are stored away for now. We will see what happens down the road.

Hi Tony! Like you I went through an unexpected and devastating divorce in 2007. My ex-wife took off with her recently departed sister's husband. The widower husband of her dead sister. I bought her out of the Albuquerque manse at the peak of the housing bubble, then sold it at the bottom, ruining my finances. My PRR Portsmouth Branch was cut into sections and transported to Ohio, and then on to Alabama. I started a small business selling my model ships. That has kept me very busy the past few years. But now I have designed a railroad from pieces of the old one and will start building it soon. The first level will run in a U-shape all around a harbor, then climb to a second level. It will be an interesting build.

Hi Pete, glad to see you back, and right next door so to speak. Merry Christmas, and equally as important, I wish you a bright and successful New Year.

I, like others here, am learning about a new me. My wife passed earlier this year, and I have become active volunteering at the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum, and at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. Both of these museums are very active and a great deal of fun, especially when you see the excitement in kid's, and their parent's & grandparent's, faces. I still have work to do on my layout, but haven't found the time what with the museums. I'm whupped when I get home, though a nice whupped.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All Y'All. :D

    Hank,

I volunteered to build (was lassoed into building) a few models for the Decatur Railroad Museum. Folks from the Huntsville/Redstone model RR club are building the display. All I can say is, wow, are they good! I'm putting a few ships on the Tennessee and a model of a building in town. They are keeping me on my toes. Oh, it's in HO. Now that's a new experience. Details are much easier!
