My fabulous wife got me a Kato starter set in N scale. I didn't think I would like N-scale only knowing HO, but I am really digging it. Reading up on converting to DCC and learning all about DCC, I am one of those type that is OCD about being realistic. I am going to start in the 1980's-90's as it's when I first fell in love with trains. Living next to a major AT&SF route growing up I got to see a bunch of trains, from rolling stock, military , some passenger (when their line was closed, locomotives from USA, Mexico, and Canada, as well as changes from all the mergers and attempted mergers. I appreciate all the tricks, tips, opinions and overall information I may find from this community. Christian
I am really liking the Kato line, yes I definitely saw that, and sighhhh retirement in April, and I now have this hobby, life is grand!!!
Welcome aboard, Christian. Your enthusiasm would indicate that we can all see some photos in the future as you progress in N.
Welcome to Trainboard Christian. Glad to have you on board. The fact that you like Santa Fe will not be held against you.
There are some amazing Southwest based N Scale layouts out there. You have lots of inspiration to draw ideas from.
I can't wait to get going, I will be able to commit time to my venture around April. There is so much to research, to DCC right away or not, how to get sound in my loco, signaling, landscaping, etc.
