Micro-Trains N 99305440 Weathered 50' Box Car and 3-Bay Covered Hopper, Burlington Northern (2-Pack) Very Bizarre! I had just received this set yesterday and after opening and taking pics to display on the N Scale-What was your latest purchase forum; later last night I noticed all of a sudden the top walks of the hopper starting warping out of place. Any ideas from anyone not counting sending an e-mail to Micro Trains about a replacement? Here are some views from this morning, will set in Thumbnail Mode. PS The Box car is fine out of the set.
If it's not broken you may be able to fix it. I think those running boards are a wood product and probably just expanded. I would see if you can gently pry up the running board with an x-acto and redo the glue. You may only need to do that one side. I've had etched metal pieces do this before and that's how I fixed it. No, they are not broken but it seems like something has allowed them to warp for some reason-best view is pic 4, when I touch on the warp and lightly push down I can see the it will bow either to left or right. These are a real light plastic so somewhere I suspect they have glue points. I tried to look underneath but there is about zero room to try to take a pin and re-glue, even if I did it would pop up left or right of the existing warp. I'm guessing I need to contact Micro Trains, this is my first ever MTL car with this bad of an issue.
They are beautiful cars and I've never seen something like this from MTL in all the cars I've purchased.
Looks to me the glue popped. I would take xacto or small screwdriver, pop remaining brackets to the roofwalk in the shortest direction and re-glue.
I've seen this on my IMRC hoppers regularly. Theirs are etched metal and it seems to have something to do with the temperature changes and humidity. I'm assuming it's the same thing going on here?
Not sure, I have quite a few Hoppers from Micro-Trains and have never seen this kind of affect before.
