Yep, we will be there with a 40x40 layout space. Have to admit, haven’t done much out on the layout in the past year, spent most of my train time with sound installs. I do plan to balance my time better this year.
Besides some modules for my T-TRAK layout and the Woodland Scenics H & H Feed Mill, I purchased a couple of D&RGW GP35's from a fellow Trainboarder. Thanks drgwspup. Regards, Charles
My latest, a Joe Works brass 3 truck shay. Figure it'll go perfect with a 20 car string of MT log trucks! Now to find, or bash a caboose of some sort!
Nice loco are you going to keep it as an oil burner? I produced a few of my logging cabooses by taking a couple of surplus 34 foot Overtons and grafting a cupola on the top that came from a few cabooses I had made into drover cars. I used the combines for the project. Delivery of camp supplies and loggers up to camp. Then there are the 4 wheel bobbers floating around out there that Bachmann made.
Yeah, I'll probably leave it As Is, once I get it. Not too familiar with the Shay. Know there's a book or 2 available on them. Not sure of title(s), availability or price these days!
Keith, somewhere in my collection is a book with a ton of three truck Shays in it. The Joe Works Shay is incorrect due to it only having two cylinders, all three truck Shays had three cylinders.
I picked up a couple things this month. I finally got myself a LokProgrammer. I hope to be all LokSound equipped on the layout by the end of the year, so this will help in the programming area. I also picked up the 1/164 AT-M6 to go with my Millenium Falcon. It won't go on the layout, but I'm a Star Wars fan. I did pick up some layout details too, but those aren's as interesting.
My first american train in a long while, a Kato Western Pacific Mikado. I've needed something to pull my few american coaches for a while now. Now just to install DCC and then the detail parts.
New to me Kato GG1 with DCC from Nscalestation and the Kato Broadway Limited with 4 + 1 car add ons from Leester. It looked great running on the Bay Area NTrak Club layout in Crockett this weekend.
Newest, just acquired! NJ Custom Brass 2 car Rio Grande Prospector set. Jerks and stalls when it runs. Think it just needs cleaning and lube!
From Wiki: The 1941-1942 Prospector The train was inaugurated November 17, 1941. The original equipment was a pair of Budd Company-built diesel multiple unit trains numbered M-1 and M-2. The trainsets had significant reliability problems exacerbated by difficult terrain and the train was discontinued July 5, 1942. The trainsets were returned to Budd and ultimately scrapped. For the inaugural trip in 1941, the railroad made stainless steel pass holders that were intended to be distributed to passengers. The holder was engraved with a line drawing of the train on the outside. On the inside were two cards—one with an embossed picture of a prospector and mule in gold, the other with a message reading: "Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad is honored to welcome _____ on the inaugural trip of the Prospector. New, diesel power, stainless steel streamlined train designed for overnight every night service between Denver and Salt Lake City." The holders were not distributed as intended to passengers. Also from Wiki: employees of the Budd Company, Philadelphia Photo of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad's streamlined train, The Prospector, from the cover of The Buddgette. The magazine/newsletter was produced by the employees of the Budd Company, builders of the train. Listed as Public Domain. In this case, just referencing the original, to the model.
Not a new purchase but rather a new paint job - a fantasy Milwaukee Road livery on a PA1/PB1 inspired by the Class A 4-4-2 steam locomotives livery. I will be using this to pull the 1935 FVM Passenger cars. I am not a fan of the steam locomotive but really liked the passenger cars so I had these painted. I hope no die hard Milwaukee Road fans are offended. It was painted by a great guy from Milwaukee actually.
Junior what are the nose decals for the PA’s really like them... also doing a fantasy PA units for my Olympian. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
