I added legs to the module: The beginning of shaping the landscape. This bridge is 3D printed and designed by @southernnscale :
Going to be a bumpy ride but looks good! My road to the house is a private road and is done with rock and dirt! kinda! messy on rainy days for my truck!
I continue with road experiment. The prototypical road looks like this: I used lower grade sand and two slightly different techniques. I belive the results are more satisfactory:
What's the brand of the 2CV Citroën automobile ? As a former 1:1 scale sample owner, I'd like to purchase one in Z ! Dom
2CV Citroen is 3D printed at Shapeways. My model was from designer's shop which does not exist on Shapeways any more but you may contact Pablo from Spain: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/evolutiondesignes?li=pb There is no 2CV listed in Z scale on Shapeways but I think he can make it available.
That look good to! the smaller might pack tight enough to give you a smoother surface! Your real road looks as if the rock was laid in a pattern of some kind. Can't wait to see the road on the module.
Nice progress! What did you use to create the landscaping, some kind of foam? How did you get it so smoothly curved? Matt
Landscaping is done using insulation foam bought at Leroy Marlin (but I think it is also available at Castorama or similar stores). One piece +/- 100cmx50 cm costs approximately 4USD. I shaped it using hobby (carpet) knife. Than it was gently sanded first mechanically than manually. This material is easy to sand but also easy to destroy while sanding. It would be much easier to shape it with special "hot knife" but I do not have such a tool. Some places were shaped additionally using carpenter's acrylic putty.
Yep! those hot wire knifes do wonders as long as the area isn't to wide to fit the tool! I use one to shape the side of the foam along the wooden top frame to shape it cut thru like a hot knife thru butter! leaves the surface smooth. woodland Scene has several different types for cutting foam! Pawel, looking great! starting to shape up! Your process looks great! thanks for sharing!!!!
I made some progress with the grass on this module. There is still a lot to be done but one can start the feeling of the landscape:
Another great job! Pawel! that yellow part looks a lot like one of the fields here with golden rod growing! got a few fields like this here!
