That is some wonderful lemonade you have there Jim! You should bottle it and sell it to fellow modelers! I am in for a case!

Clever solution to a disaster. Looks lik it was planned that way from the begining.

More details and some corrections made - the scene has come together nicely and I'm really happy the way it turned out. Here are four shots, no description needed.

Of course I've also been working on other parts of the layout, the cleanup seems endless. I'm most grateful the damage was confined to the big room.

Now you just need some CA-58 signs!

I was about to say something to that effect. Some speed limit signs and "No U-Turn, Official Use Only" for that break in the Jersey barrier. Maybe even an overhead green upcoming exit sign for the area you are modeling.

this is a case where I am happy to say that I told you so...it looks better now than it did before the water damage.

I can't recall that many overhead signs on that stretch of the road, except right at the exits, or maybe overpasses. Of course, the freeway really only crosses over the tracks once, at Keene. (Well, also twice in Tehachapi proper)

Jim - this looks absolutely great!

So I was cleaning track this morning and thought to put the Atlas vacuum car at the end of the string of Predators. Here are the results of the four passes I made:

Each pile represents one circuit of the Sub. I stopped in the staging area each time to do a quick empty and clean, and put the results in it's own pile. I think I'm gonna keep going and see at what point I can make it all the way around without a stop and with a lot less than I see here...

So I think I can now call the damage repair (with one exception, see the last photo) complete. Here's what it looks like, a major improvement from before the damage, the grass is a lot nicer now.

Here's a tele shot of the new highway I like. I will have some additional improvements to the scene in future.

Finally, the previously mentioned exception; I think this could be an interesting scene. Any suggestions? It's about a train length out of Oakville, and the only area out of the main room that sustained damage. It's an easy fix to make it like it was, but after the highway I could be ready to do something with it. Seems to be crying for SOMETHING...

Jim, I get what you are saying, but I don't know what you could put there. Maybe a rock or a cut?

Looks like a good place for a ranch house, barn, bunkhouse corrals and horses, cowpokes and vaqueros!

How about a burnt out field? Very realistic for California :)

    Crop circles!!
Great job on the freeway, looks really good. I've always wanted to do something similar on my layout, but I've never come up with a good solution for the abrupt end of the road at the edge of the layout.

I have the same thought. Bridges that end at the layout edge just seem to draw my eye to the abrupt end of the brige...and stay there. Roads that cross track on the flats and end at the layouts edge dont even bother me. Go figure. I have seen many a great bridge builds here on TB over the many years I have been here...including Jims now. :D

I was originally going to make my yard much like Mobest Yard in Phoenix. I-10 cuts over the yard almost at the center of the yard. https://zoom.earth/#33.461749,-112.100973,18z,sat The logistics of the freeways abrupt end at the edge of the layout...PLUS...the freeway going into the bvackdrop was just more then I wanted to deal with. :censored:

I really like Jims. A great solution to an almost complete disaster with the flooding! (y)
