quite the long title. I had this idea, similar to the steam thread on therailwire. Pretty much you just show off your passenger equipment, preferably Santa Fe.
I've been out-shined by Russell Straw, I can't one up-man-ship his fine passenger cars or his photo's. This is a work in progress and right about now it would seem like an effort in futility. I'll explain later. For now here is a video John Acosta, took of my Santa Fe and Union Pacific Fast Mail. Taken just before Christmas so it was entitled The Christmas Rush. A move to Idaho, a devastated layout and I'm having to reconfigure and rebuild it. I love the building part but I'm not the spry youngster I used to be. Never mind how much track costs today. Enjoy!
No photos handy All ATSF sets produced by Kato A series of heavyweight cars from Pecos River Brass And the 1938 version of the ATSF Super Chief, 7 car set from Oriental Limited A bunch of Micro-Trains Heavyweight cars un-numbered and unlettered to become additional ATSF heavyweights
My wife gave a N scale Model Power train set from her maternity check in the spring of 1984, thirty five years ago. I now have about 260 N scale locomotives, passenger and freight cars. Over half of the items are Frisco and the others are from several different rail lines. The Santa Fe items are an Atlas 4-6-2 Pacific and a Model Power U30G. Passenger includes a four car set from Model Power and three car set from Atlas, the difference between is the Atlas cars have larger windows. Freight is about a dozen or so railcars of various types. Joe
I also have four sets of ConCor Frisco passenger cars that contains five cars each. Three have Red and Silver paint and the other is all Silver. The silver set and the dome cars are not prototypical for Frisco but will still use them on some occasions. Joe
My latest project is more passenger power. I stripped some Hallmark FTs that someone had painted up in the freight scheme. Really crappy job and they ran even worse than they looked. I got them cheap. I have re powered them with Intermountain mechanisms and they now run sweet. Three left to finish painting and decal.
Nice job Russell. At first I thought maybe you came up with a prototype we had all missed. Kind of liked the solid Silver units tied in behind the early style warbonnet. Nice! Very Nice!!! SP Wolf, don't think that your PA's didn't catch my eye. Nice layout as well. Wow!
HO scale here.... Hannah Vista Union Station: Loading up the mail in Sarah's Valley on this mixed train with an Alco RS at the point: 4:55 AM in Davidsville
Arbo, looks like that spot is a popular location for foamers; they even chartered a bus to bring them there!
Geez, David......can't you flip that picture? I now have a crikey neck and cant' straighten it out. Oh, there it popped and we are back in proper alignment. Those are nice. Envious as a fly on $#!+ !!! A bee collecting honey? Is that better said? Or something like that. Looking mighty fine. Arbomambo, I swear you must have stood track side and watched these trains run by. Spiffy videos and they downloaded nicely. Wow! What you can't do with a piece of train equipment in your hands. Russell, .........speechless. Sitting here in absolute AWE !! I want that diner or a close facsimile. Gosh that's nice. I'm working on my U30C. Trying to remember who I bought a fuel tank from. I want to get that installed and the motor/diesel back in service. John, Missing your layout in the worst way. No Place to go on Thursday night that gives me the same satisfaction. Missing the big guy, Run 8, as well. Sigh! Is this fun or what?
Back in 2012 the owners of THERR decided to expand their little empire from a 32" HCD to the inside of a 29' RV. My friend Barstow Rick sent along some passenger cars and a 4-8-4 along with some other great things as THERR RV was looking a little barren train wise in that much room ! The 4-8-4 was DOA and stayed that way. I sent it off to Bachmann who where kind enough to send back a new one ! It made one lap on the HCD and threw so many sparks off the pilot truck... I thought the HCD was going to ignite in a ball of flames !! THE WIFE decided the E5 I showed her online would fill in nicely although she really wanted an old steamer pulling her excusion tarin :-( . The 4-8-4 is now on static display in "Railroad Park" in 'Jeans Valley'. The passeneger cars of 'THE Excursions' are now getting Limo Tinted Windows as 'THE Excursions' is now an ADULT excursion train. ( The rest of the story on that is an inside joke between THE WIFE and I .) So here its is... 'THE Excursions'
I have no idea why the photo rotated sideways on posting. It was normal when I took it and normal on my computer......
