Good morning, good evening, where ever you may be. It's time once again for us to gather around and discus what we have planned for the weekend in our shops and layout rooms. For me, not much. I got back in from Illinois late Wednesday night and I'm still a bit tired from the trip. This weekend, I've signed up for the State of NH Motorcycle Safety class and so that will take up both days. Any time left over will be spent on laundry, grocery shopping etc. I do need to get the City Job ready for a show next weekend but other than that, not much on the model railroad end of things. So how about you? What do you have planned? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, April 29th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe, and as always... High Greens!
This will be a visiting weekend for me -- tonight: heading over to a friends house -- messing around with his On30 layout. Tomorrow - Heading out to see Otto's (Cajonpassfan) layout. I am looking forward to both of these adventures. Sunday: -- I think I will continue work on an SP caboose project I have started. Hope Y'all have a great weekend!! Wolf
Hope to make a bit of progress on my block control panel. With spring comes house repairs to our place (mainly wood rot and painting) and landscaping. I just don't have the energy to prosecute this work like I used to, especially the landscaping.
As w/ Bremner, I am out of town this weekend. I am working on my trackplan to establish the signal system. The plan is being built on AutoCAD, so I may work on that while listening to the "in-laws" discuss Aunt Martha and stuff like that. Have a great weekend all!
Hoping to get some more wiring done on the layout and my temporary control panel this weekend in between all the other activities going on.
Already cleaned the hobby work bench. Sorting through some surplus N detail parts and M-T conversions to sell. Then starting an HOn30 laser box car kit. After I try to order some screws, and other little things... I hope.
Now that I am a member of the NMRA I have been identifying things to work on for the AP program. I need to scratch build a couple more structures. So today I will take some drawings that I have been playing with (pic of my artist sketching a below) and transform them into plans for a dump house for my HOn30 section of my layout. Other than that no other plans since Monday and Tuesday I will be taking tests so I need to prepare for that. Also need to do a little house keeping in the train room. A neighborhood kid wants to come see the trains.
Worked a bit on my block control panel, adding letters to identify blocks and other controls. The twin holes will carry colored LEDs and toggles will be centered between just below the LEDs. I'm a DC modeler. There are 18 Blocks, including two spare positions for anything I've overlooked. I like using letter designations for blocks, as was tradition in the age of block towers and railroad telegraphy. Though, mine ae laid out as per layout geography to make reference easy. OW and IW are for "West" mainline tracks (Outside and Inside to the left) and OE and IE cover "East" mainline tracks to your right. MC is Muleshoe Curve, VI covers a long Viaduct, WY is West Yard, etc. The E-Series blocks are all within the Engine Terminal. There are six other positions for master power (for the entire layout), lights, DCC (when I wish to experiment with it someday), walkaround DC throttle, reverse loop direction and a future spare. I didn't think it necessary to have LEDs indicating layout power (the entire panel and an adjacent turnout control panel will be lit when the power is on), nor was it necessary to have LEDs indicating when building lights are on. (Duh! )
