Thank you sir but I think Gerd takes the cake when it comes to "first Alco in Z". I'm envious of his roster to be honest. ->> Trains At Enkay Design

I think David F did the very first Alco S2 already several years ago together with a SD9 and SD40T-2 which he showed in Denver.

That looks terrific: what type of powered chassis will we use?

    Excellent! Ann Arbor used these.

I was going to get an SW1200, paint it up in AAR colors, and ignore the historical inaccuracy, but this changes the game.

Is there an ETA on your shop?

The chassis will be very similar to my sw9 b-units. Only one shorty will be needed to power it. The shorty motor will lay flat and the pin that holds the powered truck in place will have to be chopped down. There will be room for an optional circuit board with lights but it will not be necessary to run. I will offer a hand rail kit with wires and resistor just like the SW1200. The first test run of the hand rails(chemical etched parts) will should be delivered within two months. Considering Shapeways turn around time, the shell and chassis will also be a available in about two months time. Thanks!

Speaking of "first ALCO in Z", let's not forget AZL's brass PA1, even if it get difficult to be found now... ;)

The body looks fantastic! But if I couldn't make those outside brake shoes on the Blunt trucks finer and more recessed, I'd leave them off.

The essence and, to me, the appeal of the Blunt truck is its nicely rounded shape and its simplicity. It's like a minimalist design.

As modelers, we all hate to omit details. But if it's physically impossible to make the small stuff small enough, they wind up changing the whole character of the thing. The tail wags the dog. Sometimes we're better off learning a lesson from impressionist painters. If the details don't add to the impression that those are Blunt trucks, to heck with 'em!

It sure looks promising. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the feedback. I think I can make the details a bit finer before Shapeways starts rejecting the model.

I see you have the rivets on the S2 looks really good have you uploaded it yet! That when you will find out if there to small they will disappear after upload. Then you will have to go and enlarge them a bit till they show up after upload to Shapeways. Like the rivet counting models add nice detail!
