There's a book available that is all about this railroad, alias The Jawbone. By Don Baker, it describes the beggining and the ultimate inclusion into the Milwaukee Road when it was building it's transcontinental mainline to the Pacific NW.

Bill Wilkerson also wrote about that RR. "Montana Railroad Company, better known as The Jawbone Railroad". (1994?) A 32 page softcover, B&W. May still be available through the folks in Harlowton at the depot.

Our grandson was as impressed by the fully loaded coal train that went through while waiting on "Big Boy". Two engines in the lead, two in the middle, and one on the end!

Taken 04/04/1975 in my high school years, a C&NW scoot is seen at Barrington, IL. At the location of the distant signal bridges, the mainline from Chicago reduced from three to two tracks. That's the coach yard to the left.

Dang, that a sweet old Chevy! I can't tell, but is that a 409 V8? Looks like it was a 4-speed too!! Rare car these days......
1961 Impala. (Non-SS.) Motor is a small block 283 V8. (327 introduced in 1962.) Exhaust manifolds are wrong for 348/409. Tranny is (was) a PowerGlide- note the pan. In 1961 any 4 speed was a cast iron case Borg-Warner. Also see that across from the oil filter can is the crankcase breather tube. Pre-PCV system by a couple of years.
