Sitting at Sacramento international, waiting to board my flight to SeaTac... Which is delayed due to the blue angels practicing for the Seattle airshow... Wish I had time to take the train. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
From about 1986, ICG 8716 (originally NYNH&H 1229, built 08/1956) works amongst shortwood cars in Prattville, AL. This type of woodrack, once very common, rapidly disappeared in the early 90s as paper mills embraced the economies of longwood debarking which eliminated the need to cut pulpwood to the short lengths as carried in this type of car. I still miss seeing these and smelling the fresh cut timber as they passed by.
KRT had just unloaded some CSX coal cars. They just getting back with NS loaded coal cars from NS Yard. Curtis
Beautiful F unit on the Oregon coast. Also like the photo of the ICG working the pulpwood cars. Nice.
Seafair weekend. Always the first one in August. The big hydroplane race, with an included air show in many segments. Lasts Friday through Sunday. Been there many times as a spectator or participating in some way. Blue Angels live always a thrill.
Saw this lost "Union" unit sitting with a pumpkin here at the service track. They consistently use the "sand track" to set out ready sets or units for train crews to pick up without having to enter blue flag territory. And a couple more teasers for the 2164 in Bismark, ND
Here's a load of lumber that the local switcher picked up from the lumber mill on the south side of Livingston, MT.
Sorry I'm late.... "All Red Under the Milky Way" Railcars roll past CP 10.6 as the Milky Way rises over North Dakota.
I presume this is from RY Timber? Did I read or hear something recently, where they might be closing down?
