I too try to get CD versions. When I got rid of my paper versions a few years ago I took an Xacto and removed the articles I wanted; next I scanned them and keep them in my PC.
Our club gives them away to anyone who will take one but we see to it that the kids get out with as many as they want. Who knows, we might ignite a spark for model railroading in one of them. Our Fair show is only one week per year so we are not making much headway on the "pile".
What I've sometimes done is to take some to Train shows and give them out to kids that showed an interest.
There are three issues I want. They are probably from the late 60s and early 70s.: One had an article of a guy who made his on 'bath gons' in CP bright red and a working rotary dumper. Another was an early 'N-Scale in a Coffee Table' with a 'progressive curve into a reverse loop'. That was dreaming material for years. Early 60s was a 'Sierra Pintada RR'. I don't remember anything about it but know it fascinated me. Those 3 probably were huge factors in my model railroading attraction. Sigh, no, I don't want anyone to try to find them. They are wonderful memories.
So I guess saving all my Model RR mags from the 60's to sell 50 years later and get rich off was a bad idea ? How about car and motorcycle magazines? Any chance I'll get rich off of them? Sumner
Good but sobering thread. I have 35+ years of MRR and RMC mags. About 20 years I have bound in the blue binders. No one wants them and I really can't justify having all of the copies. My plan is to go through and pick out the magazines w/ articles that meant something to me. I have about 600 magazines, I'll probably keep 30 or 40. Rest will get "recycled".
