I just finished a Santa Fe C44-9 for my good friend Ron Golly, all done with BLMA and homemade parts! Just showing it off, thanks, Dustin [ April 08, 2005, 05:43 AM: Message edited by: E-8 ]
Dustin, When you post images, you need to right click on the image, bring up properties, and copy the URL in its entirity. I am unsure of what you did wrong, except that the URL was wrong. Mighty fine work!!!
Tarponfly, You can come over and detail my Santa Fe C44-9W's anytime you want! Seriously, that is some very good work you did there. Congrats.
Tarp, You had: http://www.railimages.com/gallery/dustinfarlow/aam.jpg it should have been: http://www.railimages.com/albums/dustinfarlow/aam.jpg This was for the first pic btw. That 's excellent work btw.
tarponfly, very nice job! I'm in line right behind Sing with 3 of my own that need that treatment. Oh.... do you do AC4400s and SD70MACs too??? very nice.
Thanks guys, I see what I did wrong on the URL, Thanks for the tip.... as for the c44, the detailing was't that hard, the biggest hassle was painting all of the walkways and rails to match the prototype, I didn't realize kato's factory paint was so far off, but it really makes the difference!
Your unit looks great!! It looks like all of the red is less "maroon" (as on the stock Kato units). Did you repaint the red or the whole unit? Russ
That is great! What mix did you use to paint the walkways? My -9's still have the incorrect silver walkways because I have never been able to get close enough to the color of the unit.
The shell is still kato factory red....I have yet to master the airbrush so I never repaint anything, I just usually buy try to match the factory paint as well as possible. I used Polly Scale ATSF red on the walkways and it seemed to be a dead on match, painting the walkways the correct red instead of silver made a HUGE difference in the appearance of the model!
Now lets see that Bad boy running on your Layout !!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome work !!!! Cannot wait to see some Action photo's...
HAHAHHA, if you only knew how funny that last comment is...my layout is a 3' section of test track...still in planning stage once the garage gets cleaned out! I would post an action shot, but it's not going to be much different than the last couple! LOL
